John C. Reilly will join Roman Polanski's adaptation of God of Carnage

10.18.2010

John C. Reilly rounds out the cast for Roman Polanski's adaptation of Yasmina Reva's play, GOD OF CARNAGE.

There's a concern that the film version might come off a bit more serious. From what I've read the play is supposed to be very comedic. There's a lot of one-liners, gross out gags, and some physical comedy as well.

Reilly will be taking on the part of Michael, a role that has been played by Jeff Daniels and James Gandolfini. Jodie Foster will play his on-screen wife, Veronica. So this means that Christoph Waltz and Kate Winslet are going to be the other couple, Alan and Annette.

Filming will start January 2011 in Paris.

Synopsis:

"Set in present-day New York City, God of Carnage is the story of two married couples who meet for the first time shortly after their respective sons have a nasty schoolyard tangle. Michael and Veronica, whose sonís teeth were knocked out with a stick, invite Alan and Annette, whose son did the knocking, to their home to settle matters such as who will pay for new teeth. But any attempt at having a civilized discussion about whose child is responsible for the fight, and how the parents may have influenced such destructive behavior, quickly devolves into finger-pointing, name-calling, stomping around and throwing things. And thatís before they break out the rum!"
