John Goodman Captive State 10 Cloverfield Lane

I'll watch John Goodman in just about anything, the man is one heck of a fine actor and can really do it all. Comedy, drama, horror, sci-fi, you name it, John Goodman's done it. One of his more impressive roles of late was that of paranoid survivalist Howard Stambler in Dan Trachtenberg's 10 CLOVERFIELD LANE, and it seems that he'll be taking a few of those survival lessons with him for his next movie.

John Goodman is set to star in CAPTIVE STATE, an upcoming sci-fi thriller directed by Rupert Wyatt (RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES) which is "set in a Chicago neighborhood nearly a decade after an occupation by an extra-terrestrial force." The film will explore the "lives on both sides of the conflict – the collaborators and dissidents." The film recently wrapped production in Chicago and a first look photo has been released featuring John Goodman strapped into some sort of containment chamber.

We don't know too much about CAPTIVE STATE just yet, but I'm already on board based on John Goodman's involvement alone. The Rupert Wyatt film also stars Vera Farmiga (Bates Motel), Ashton Sanders (MOONLIGHT), Kevin Dunn (Veep) and Jonathan Majors (When We Rise).

CAPTIVE STATE is set for a August 17, 2018 release.

Goodman should have won an Oscar for "The Big Lebowski", and was awesome in "Red State" and "10 Cloverfield Lane". This is on my radar for sure.

John Goodman is definitely getting better and sharper for his acting skills. He practically carried 10 Cloverfield Lane.

That is definitely high praise (and not unwarrented) for a man who has been a treasured character actor for most of my life. I haven't seen 10 Cloverfield Lane yet, but I like the idea someone his age is still growing as an actor.

He's very good in 10 Cloverfield Lane because he kept his role very ambiguous - is he the hero or the villain? And that's a tough job.

Colony?

The premise sounds a lot like that underrated TV show, still it doesn't have Goodman in it so that adds a plus to this project.

I'm always down to watch anything with Goodman. He completely owned 10 Cloverfield Lane.

He definitely owned 10 Cloverfield Lane. I felt that after his role ended the movie went downhill from there.

Goodman has always impressed me, but in a subtle way. Yes, 10 Cloverfield Lane was amazing because he had SO MUCH screen time. He's always been a Coen Bros. mainstay, and kills it every role he plays. I remember watching COYOTE UGLY and going "fuck this is a terrible film." Then, when Goodman was in a scene, I'd start paying attention. After the scene ended, I was reminded about how bad the movie was haha.
