John Williams' Jurassic Park theme slowed down 1000% is quite relaxing

01.18.2011

There seems to be an absence of any hard hitting movie news at the moment, so I'm going to share with you something I stumbled upon today that I thought was pretty cool.

You all know and love John Williams' classic JURASSIC PARK theme which brings back fond '90s memories of watching Newman getting eaten by dinosaurs. But now, in the tradition of INCEPTION, which slowed down Edith Piaf's "Non, je ne regrette rien" for its theme, comes this bit of audio tinkering which takes the original score and slows it down 1000% to create a great track all by itself.

It's ambient synth like you might find in a sci-fi film, but I'm using it as background to get my work done today. And as the track has been stretched into an hour, it can last you quite a while. Check it out below.

Extra Tidbit: This was the first PG-13 movie I ever saw back when I was seven. My parents fast forwarded through all the scary parts, which was most of the film, according to them.

Wow you're all a bunch of kids, love the score.

@ thedentz, dude you posted the exact same scene. Nice.
Weird good, but finding out you were 7 when you saw that makes feel like an old man I was a Jr. in High School. It does give me great memories I bought the score just for that song where they're first approaching the Island in the helicopter. I remember going an hour or two early all of my friends were pissed I made them go so early. Then they were all thanking me when we got in line & 10 minutes later there were about 200 people

I had never jumped at any movie before or since, but did when Laura Dern turned the lights back on Sam Jacksons arm fell on her & the Velociraptor screeched at her. Good times good times.

I was actually twelve. A late bloomer in the arts of the curse words. But I make up for it more than ever now.

The first time I ever said "F**k" was in Jurassic Park. It's second weekend in theaters 'cause my parents were uncool and when the damn raptor broke through the wall after the "Dr. Hammond I think we're back in business" bit. I think it was the first time I crapped my pants too. But not that last.

Jurassic Park was THE score that got me interested in collecting film scores. I can't wait to get 2 new Williams scores this year for War Horse and Tintin. No one does a score like Williams.

Cool.

This is actually the original John William's version. They sped it up 1000% for the movie. When John does something, it's epic.

No worries. Update: I did dream of unicorns. One of them raped me. He was feeling, ahem, horn-y.
