Johnny Cage punches some crotches in the the new episode of Mortal Kombat: Legacy

04.26.2011

If you can pull yourself away from hammering on your enemies in the new MORTAL KOMBAT videogame, the latest episode of the webseries has been released online.

While we await the introduction of decent characters like Scorpion and the further adventures of Jax and Sonya Blade, first we meet scrotum-pummeling egomaniac Johnny Cage and learn how he might fit into the grand scheme of the inevitable tournament. It's a different approach from the previous two action-focused episodes, but kinda fun. (Swearing not included.)

The episode synopsis: After unsuccessfully trying to sell his reality television pilot pitch to a studio exec, Johnny Cage, an American action-hero movie star who has fallen on hard times, is recruited by Shang Tsung, a powerful sorcerer who has the power to suck souls from people, to fight in the upcoming Mortal Kombat tournament.

Extra Tidbit: If you watch Syfy, you might recognize that pretty gal -- that's Erica Cerra of "Eureka".

I liked it. But more importantly: Holy shit do I want a Mike Tyson VS Thugs reality show (or someone like that, anyway).

Am I the only one that thinks that if these guys get a movie deal and end up keeping the same tone/actors/writers that we're going to end up with a movie with the cinematic quality of say Dragon Ball or G.I. Joe... this is not the MK movie I want to see made.

edit: don't get me wrong here, I enjoy the series for what it is and think it's pretty good for a webseries but I don't think any of this would work for a gritty MK film

I think the idea and concept would work indefinitely, but I must agree with you on the actors/actresses.

Heh...

I saw this yesterday afternoon. The uncensored version comes out this Friday.

But in the meantime, check out this review that IGN gave to this episode, and then read the responses at the bottom. The reviewer gets straight up ripped!!

The third episode of Legacy is by far the best episode to date. So far the new Mortal Kombat show is great.

This actually kind of reminded me of how JOhnny gets recruited in the first film, but I love the exposition. They actually humanized Johnny instead of making him the complete stuck up A-hole he always has been. Good story with a great ending. Sad they aren't going the way of Rebirth, but I am still liking this series so far. Hopefully this series of shorts will warrant a film with as good quality.

FUCK YEAH
This was the best episode so far. I felt for Johnny. I was genuinely relieved when he beat the shit out of that producer.

These MK shorts just keep getting better and better, and I am not even a fan of the games, well maybe the first one when I was in high school, but whatever. Looking good!

Loved the ending to that one.

Just wish it was the uncensored version.

Each episode is that much more bad-ass.. and the ending of this episode (with the conclusion of the supernatural and obscure realm) takes the series in a new direction.. total win for me.

Great

This is getting better and better. However, I do not like cliff hangers. I will stop watching this for a few months and then start again when I can sit down and enjoy it without going through only half a beer.

Just download the torrents once they're all done, and watch them all in sequence.
