Here are the winners for the 2017 Academy Awards!

02.26.2017

Chill the Dom Pérignon and open the caviar folks cause Oscar week has arrived! Well if you're us it's more like unwrap the popcorn bag, pour the nacho chips and chill that last bottle of Rickard's Red which to be honest with you sounds a hell of a lot better. So the 2017 Academy Awards is coming this Sunday and Jimmy Kimmel will be hosting this year so hopefully we can get a few good laughs in there. One day we need an unpredictable rauncy comedy host like Bill Burr or Jim Jefferies with an open bar to really keep people on the edge of their seats for the ceremony. That being said, the party is almost here and we at JoBlo HQ are very excited as always. It's quite a list this year even if your favorites didn't get in so should be one hell of a show. If you haven't seen this yet, you can join the JoBlo Oscar Prediction Contest and win some great prizes! Exclusive hint: "The Jungle Book" will win Best VFX! Guaranteed pick! *wink wink*

Now we get to the coolest part though which is that starting on Sunday at 7:30pm EST sharp, you can join myself and dozens of people in our annual Oscar chat room which will be hosted on this very same page so bookmark it! If you have a Twitter or Facebook account, you can join in or just as a Guest. Whatever you want. It's always a blast and we filled the room last year. Talk shit about the crappy speeches, cheer on the winners, spot Jack Nicholson, etc. Speaking of Twitter, if you happen to be mobile or out-and-about during the ceremony, we'll also be hosting our LIVE TWITTER FEED (@JoBlo Twitter page) for all the latest updates on the event plus some laughs along the way. Hope to see you there!

Disappointed KUBO didn't win Best Animated Feature Film, I think it was superior to both Moana (favorite) and Zootopia (winner).
And frankly I can't tell, among the winners, who won for Art, Diversity or Political reasons... And I don't mean it in a trolling way, because I didn't see some of them so I can't judge. It's just a bad feeling I have, hoping I'm wrong about it !

The fuck up made it memorable but La La Land should have really won in my opinion.

It was my fault!

I wanted Moonlight to win, but I bet on La La Land. So maybe I'm cosmically to blame.

Still, as bizarre and unprecedented as this was, it didn't surprise me as much as when Crash won. Still scratching my head on that one.

I liked MOONLIGHT more than LA LA LAND... but I couldn't enjoy the moment due to the screw up. I kept telling my friends "No, this is a joke, right?"

Putting that aside, I didn't really like the show:
-I barely laughed. In fact, the "Jimmy Kimmel hates Matt Damon" joke got old after a while. The Mean Tweets edition was supposed to be Oscar-themed... but some of the celebrities that read them weren't even nominated last night!
-A lot of the technical winners were surprises, but

-A lot of the technical winners were surprises, but Directing, Screenplay and Acting were the most predicted ones.
-The bit with the tourists was a little too long, and it's one of the factors that made the show last 4 hours (it ended here at around 6:30 AM!).
-I don't like that John Legend sang the LA LA LAND songs instead of Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, nor that he didn't sing them in their entirety while the other nominated songs were (nice touch of adding a rap by Lin-Manuel Miranda).
-I liked those moments were a presenter would comment on a classic and then come out with one of the starts of the classic.

CONGRATS TO VIOLA DAVIS AND MAHERSHALA ALI ..

... for their terrific performances on Suicide Squad and Luke Cage, respectively.

Can't say I'm surprised Trolls' "Can't Stop The Feeling" lost to LaLaLand for Best Original Song

The Best Picture moment is going to be repeated for all eternity now. I don't blame Warren Beatty. I blame whoever handed him the envelope in the first place. No wonder why it took him so long to announce it at first. It really put him on the spot. At least somebody decided to do something about it rather than correcting everything when the show was all over.

He didn't even announce it. He clearly knew something was wrong and didn't want to say anything, and Faye Dunaway blurted out "La La Land" without fully looking at the card. Not that I blame her, either. Monumental fuck up on some production assistant's hands.

Oh yeah, you're right. My bad. Corrected it. Thanks. But yes, a monumental eff up on some production assistant's hands indeed. Now Steve Harvey can have a good night sleep because this is much bigger screw up than he did with Miss Universe competition.

Who's to blame?

That was a major f**k-up at the end of the show. I don't know who's to blame yet, but it sure was unnerving. I'm quite elated by the winners of the evening. Mahershala Ali taking home the Best Supporting Actor statuette was blissful. Casey Affleck's performance in Manchester by the Sea was also one of my favorites. I had hoped either Moonlight or Manchester by the Sea would win Best Picture, so I am content with the results.

"Check it out! I am the ULTIMATE badass!"

Karma

These people all spent the entire show ragging on our president and ranting and raving about truth. And then, in the end, they screw up the biggest award of the night? Not entirely sure what happened at the end, but c'mon Warren, you've been in the game for 50 years. Read the damn card. If it looks suspicious and says Emma Stone, Best Actress...do you think maybe you have the wrong card? Is he uncapable of deducing that there was a fuckup? Instead he just looks confused and delirious. He looked

La La Land was too much of a cookie cutter story with a dragging final quarter for me. It was a good film, but not in my top five. Moonlight's raw emotion is what grabbed me from the get go.

Really? Did you even watch the show? Faye Dunaway announced La La Land as best picture while Beatty clearly was confused and didn't want to read the card he was given.

Also, La La Land was definitely the more entertaining film, but Moonlight was better in terms of craftsmanship, and deserved the award.

"I think we can all agree that 3 million people illegally voted for Moonlight to win Best Picture at the Oscars. Very unfair treatment to LaLa Land crew. NOT GOOD!"

All kidding aside, my first immediate thought was this feels like a publicity stunt for ratings and press. Maybe to shift the news spotlight away from the White House? There is no way, this would happen with the show's top award. Maybe with "live action animation documentary short adaptive effects editing", but not Best Picture. No way. Personally, I don't care that Moonlight won over LaLa Land, but this was one of the few times I felt really bad for a team of Hollywood producers. I must say,

I must say, the producers of LaLa Land were beyond honorable. You know they were devastated to learn they in fact had not won...on stage. However, they were great sports about this. Not to many would be. I wouldn't worry, the Academy will make it up to them at a future award ceremony.

I doubt that screw up will ever be topped at the oscars. I felt bad for everyone involved.
