Joker's message

10.31.2007

Joker

For a couple of weeks, we were following the slow deterioration of the Joker's carved pumpkin, which turned out to be a countdown to today -- Halloween -- when the Clown Prince revealed his latest plot: a scavenger hunt that ultimately revealed a message. "THE ONLY SENSIBLE WAY TO LIVE IN THIS WORLD IS WITHOUT RULES." Oh, that zany anarchist!

But wait -- this early promotional gimmick for THE DARK KNIGHT isn't just Joker's mission statement. If you visit the site and click the corner, you'll see a glimpse of Batman's nemesis being chauffeured about town (apparently by Dollarhyde from MANHUNTER). And clicking THAT brings you to yet another tie-in site. Those hoping to catch a look at Harvey Dent's ugly side might be disappointed after the half-rotten pumpkin implied we might see him, but there's still more than half a year to go before the movie hits...

Extra Tidbit: The DARK KNIGHT zealots out there might want to adjust your expectations -- have we already forgotten the hype lesson of SPIDER-MAN 3, which was most definitely going to be so amazingly awesome and then... wasn't?

Daddy Like

I think he looks much scarier than Brandon Lee, the Crow had a sort of morose (woes me) kinda deal and this looks a little more like I'm gonna sneak in through an open window an do something unspeakable to you in your sleep. The more I see the more I WANT to see. I'm psyched!

In my opinoin...

...well, okay, my opinon's based on a lot of comments on here, but I do believe they were two different movies with two different directors. I think Nolan cares about the Batman universe a whole lot than to throw in characters.

I know everyone's still really judgmental on the whole Joker thing...whether it's this thing or that thing...I think I secretly have an opinion too, but again...I do believe that Nolan does know what he's doing and I'm going to reserve complete judgment, well...until

As far as "SM3" goes...I know some people dug it, so I'm not going to sit here and bash it and all. I was simply under the impression that it was going to be a much darker film with villains in such a manner that we hadn't yet see n from the first two "Spidey"'s. Again, in my opinion, that's not what I got out of it, and that's why I was let down...it was campy, and everything was just thrown in there without any regard. But if other people enjoyed it, that's great.

And one more thing, I'm def. with everyone who is wanting the whole "TDK"/"SM3" comparison to stop. If anything, this movie should solely be compared to "Begins" when it comes out.

Improved Joker

Yeah, The Joker's face looks much better and more like the comic character. Still, what's with the Kurt Cobain hairdo?

my two cents

OK, I've had enough. I just have to chime in. I DO NOT understand all this hate for Spiderman 3. I for one thought it was excellent. It's actually my fav out of all. It was entertaining and the visual effects were stunning! And that part where Peter Parker was walking down the street and winking at all the ladies was freakin hilarious!

How in gods name can you compare that to Spiderman??? No, I never thought Spiderman 3 would be so "amazingly awesome", I knew it's gonna suck because part 1 and part 2 weren't that great either (overhyped as it gets).

I AGREE, DAVE

I totally agree, Dave! Now I know the possibility of TDK becoming a major success is high, but didn't the same apply for Spider-Man 3? I definately love the Batman franchise more (since Begins), but let's not get our hopes so high that we'll be dissapointed no matter what Nolan does for us. Up to now, things are looking fantastic and The Joker simply rocks! But didn't Venom,too..before we suddenly realized that he only had 10 minutes in the film until he was blasted away into oblivion? I never

I never imagined Spider-Man going wrong and it did! I liked the hype to SM3 way more than the movie itself. Venom was completely destroyed of his image. I'm just hoping that with all the hype surrounding TDK, Nolan doesn't make the same mistake. I'm guessing a trailer will be revealed soon enough...or a poster.

No comparison

I really can't say that it does it any justice to compare DK to SM3. Two totally different movies and two totally different directors with different approaches. Whereas, the Spider Man franchise was mainly entertainment, the rejuvenated Batman series are more serious and 'respectable' not just as a great 'comic book/superhero' adaption, but a real 'film' as well. So, no contest. I definitely don't feel as if DK will be anywhere near a letdown as any of the Spider Man movies.

I still cry myself to sleep thinking how bad Venom got the shaft. Does anybody think that Tom Church would have made a better Venom than Topher grace? I mean, in my head Venom was always the meathead who was jealous of parker doing so good in life. Then finding the symbiote makes him even more revenge-obsessed with killing Spiderman and, in effect, Peter Parker. There should have been at least 3 major fights between them, everything about Venom should have been different. If I wasn't watching

If I wasn't watching Evil Dead 1 and 2 tonight for Halloween, I would tell Raimi to Fuck Himself. But he introduced me to Ash and the Deadites, so Rock On, you Crazy Bastard. Just stay away from my symbiotes, Bitch!

Be careful nbaig1034

I thought the exact same thing about Spidey 3. I would say to myself "Raimi did such an amazing job with Spider-Man 2, how could do wrong with Spidey 3?"

Though I do think Spider-Man 3 gets better with multiple viewings I can't help but become disappointed every time I think about the movie. I'm definitely toning down my excitement level for The Dark Knight, even if Begins is one of my favorite movies.

it is disapointing to not see two-face after the pumpkin sort of implied that, however it would be kind of stupid to hype two-face if he is not going to play a huge part in the movie. that will just kill expectations. the difference between this movie and spider-man 3 though, is that nolan knows how to tell a story a hell of a lot better than raimy can. i think nolan knows that you can't just throw in familiar characters and expect people to love it. he knows that there needs to be a good story

I can't wait...

...to see what else they're going to reveal off the new site. I can def. take into account the last tidbit of this report...about "Spider-Man 3," but...I don't think that lessens my enthusiasm any bit for this movie, just because I don't think Nolan'd steer this movie wrong...I just don't.
