Jonah Hill says 21 Jump Street shoots this year

The Jonah Hill-led update of 21 JUMP STREET has been flying under the radar for some time now, mainly because there’s been nothing to report and no one seems terribly interested in the project, but all that’s about to change. Well, at least the first part.

Talking to ComingSoon, Hill gives an update on the status of the project, which he maintains is moving ahead and has all of its pieces in place.

"We're going to shoot it this year I think," Hill told them. "We hired directors, Phil Lord and Chris Miller who directed Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and are friends of mine. They are incredible. Their take on the movie is incredible… It's about [young rookie] cops who go back to high school."

"[Audiences are] not expecting what it's going to be. It's not a parody of the show. I'm not playing Johnny Depp's character… It's a group of people that go back to high school to deal with a drug problem. To deal with crime in high school….It's a funny movie with a lot of great action and a real story. I've been saying that it's like a John Hughes movie with Bad Boys style action…I wouldn't make it if it wouldn't be awesome."

You're right Jonah, I was NOT expecting 21 JUMP STREET to be like BAD BOYS now that you mention it, but I am curious to see just what the hell that’s going to look like.

So who IS playing Johnny Depp’s character?
