Jonah Hill thinks the 21 Jump Street/Men in Black crossover won't happen

One of the more interesting tidbits to emerge from the Sony email hack back in 2014 was the revelation that they were considering a crossover between MEN IN BLACK and 21 JUMP STREET. Although it was a crazy albeit potentially interesting idea, I don't know how many people actually expected it to become a reality. Then, somehow, Sony actually began moving forward with the project with James Bobin (MUPPETS MOST WANTED) set to direct.

However, despite that forward motion, one member of the MIB 23 team doesn't seem to believe that it will actually get off the ground. Jonah Hill spoke with the Toronto Sun and said that although he was the originator of the idea, he "doubt[s] that movie will get made.” I can imagine that it'd be a bit of a challenge to meld those two universes together, which is something director James Bobin has previously addressed, and Jonah Hill seems convinced that it's all gotten too complicated

It’s too complicated. They’re trying to make all the deals, but it’s kind of impossible with all the Men in Black stuff. The Jump Street films were so fun to make and the whole joke of them was they were making fun of remakes and sequels and reboots and then now it’s become a giant sequel, reboot. It’s almost become what we were making fun of and it’s hard to maintain that joke when it’s so high stakes.

Despite his belief that MIB 23 won't happen, Hill still hopes to return to the 21 JUMP STREET universe as he finds those films to be a lot of fun to do. You can count me down for hoping MIB 23 comes together, if only to see what sort of craziness they come up with.

GOOD!

I like the JUMP STREET movie and boy....do I love the MEN IN BLACK trilogy! But, here's the thing: Sony should continue their original plans for 23 JUMP STREET and reboot MIB. I really didn't want this for the most part because since I grew up with MIB, kids like the one I was back then were not allowed to see any of the JS movies. MEN IN BLACK is Sony's PG-13 sort-of family-friendly trilogy while JUMP STREET is Sony's R-rated franchise that kids can't watch. Mix those two together and there

I was really hoping 23 JS got made so Schmidt can finally have a woman who won't break his heart like in the previous installments and if the studio actually does reboot MIB....then I want to play the white version of Agent J with Jessie Usher or Michael B. Jordan as my recruiter. That is one of my dream roles right there! :)

Jonah has gained about 150lbs since 22 Jump Street. Maybe he's not up to the task of slimming back down for the role.

After Ghostbusters bombed, anything Pascal touched should be scrapped

Since she was fired, nothing she touched should ever be produced.

It look like I might be in the minority here, but I thought this was the best reboot idea I had heard of in ages. Still hope it happens, and with Sony so desperate for franchises at the moment, I still have hope that it might.

Jonah Hill needs to get off his high horse, those two oscar noms have gone to his head.

that being said, i too am against this. I dont need to say anything more than it sounds dumb. The only way this movie will work is if Lord and Miller are directing. And since they are busy in the realm of Star Wars, that is unlikely

Sony is trying to find any movie to latch on to and start a franchise. It's desperate and sad.

Kill it

Fun concept to spitball when drinking or whatever, but truly a bad idea, IMO, for an actual flick. Sony is desperate though, so I can see them pushing this through.
