Jonathan Banks & Sophia Bush join Incredibles 2 cast, new character details

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

This afternoon, Disney announced that some notable names will be joining the cast of INCREDIBLES 2, which aims to delight fans by presenting audience members with a forward-thinking sequel that places Holly Hunter's Elastigirl at the center of the action.

For the new film, BREAKING BAD and BETTER CALL SAUL actor Jonathan Banks will be added to the cast as Rick Dicker. He's a government leader who helps the Parr family keep their superhero identities secret as head of the Super Relocation Program. Unfortunately for the superteam, the family is left to their own devices when the division is closed.

Addtionally, Sophia Bush (ONE TREE HILL, JOHN TUCKER MUST DIE) will also climb aboard the superhero sequel as Voyd, a young Elastigirl fan who aspires to be a superhero and has the power of creating voids, allowing objects to appear and disappear.

Also as part a of the reveal, Disney spilled the beans on who recently announced castmembers Bob Odenkirk (BETTER CALL SAUL, MR. SHOW) and Catherine Keener will play in the movie. For INCREDIBLES 2, Odenkirk will voice the character of Winston Deaver, who leads a telecommunications company with his sister Evelyn Deavor (Keener). Winston is a superhero fan and would like to help bring them out of hiding and back into the public eye by revamping public perception of them. Evelyn, meanwhile, is a genius who loves working on tech and has never met a problem she can't solve.

Hmm, those two sound like quite the dynamic duo to me. Could it be that Winston and Evelyn will become the villains of this highly-anticipated animated adventure?

Of course, the film will reunite audience members with the Parr family: Mr. Incredible (Craig T. Nelson), Elastigirl (Holly Hunter), and their children, Violet (Sarah Vowell), Dashiell (Huck Milner) and baby Jack-Jack. Samuel L. Jackson will return as Frozone while Brad Bird will also appear as the seamstress of supers, Edna 'E' Mode.

While speaking at last year's D23 celebration, Brad Bird said that sequel is "fundamentally a story about family." Bird then added, "The technology has gotten so much better; we can get them close to what we wanted to do in the [original]. It’s like driving a better car."

As I'd mentioned earlier, INCREDIBLES 2 will find Elastigirl in the spotlight, while Mr. Incredible stays at home with their children, including baby Jack-Jack, whose family is still unaware of his emerging powers. After a new villain comes on the scene with plans for world domination, the family and Frozone must join forces once more.
