Jonathan Demme is amongst a new set of directors who want to get their hands on Pride and Prejudice and Zombies

10.19.2010

Just yesterday we brought the news that Mike Newell, Neil Marshall, and David Slade were all on the short list for PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES.

Today a whole new batch of directors want to fight over the directors chair according to The Wrap. Here's what they had to offer:

"Jonathan Demme has read the script and wants to direct the movie, but he's not the only one interested in the job, as TheWrap has learned that Matt Reeves ("Cloverfield"), Mike White ("Year of the Dog") and the "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs" team of Phil Lord and Chris Miller are also in the mix."

Jonathan Demme? Nice. A lot of you mentioned that Marshall was the best man for the job yesterday, but after these new directors have entered the picture, do you still feel that way?

The duo of Phil Lord and Chris Miller will be the ones helming the big screen version of 21 JUMP STREET. Apparently they want Emma Stone to co-star with Jonah Hill in the film. They are trying hard enough for it that it may push filming back until she gets done with SPIDER-MAN. Plus, there's currently no start date on JUMP STREET. Looks like these guys might have a little time on their hands.

Reeves last effort was LET ME IN. The last film he was rumored to be directing was the SUPERMAN reboot, which is now Zack Snyder's job.

Mike White is an interesting name to throw in the mix to say the least. White is primarily a screenwriter, but got into directing in 2007 with YEAR OF THE DOG. This was a film starring Molly Shannon and Peter Sarsgaard that I somehow missed.

So what do you guys think now? Side note: I would love to see Anne Hathaway as Elizabeth Bennet taking down some f*cking zombies and looking hot while doing so. Demme could possibly make this happen for me. Please. Please. Please.

Extra Tidbit: Phil Lord and Chris Miller were responsible for the awesome show CLONE HIGH that ended after 13 episodes on MTV. I promise it was awesome.
