Jose Padilha will not copy Paul Verhoeven for the Robocop remake

There’s still a ROBOCOP remake. Jose Padilha (ELITE SQUAD) is still helming. I can’t wait to see that ROBOCOP statue one day (yes, they are still trying).

It’s been awhile since we’ve had any news on this subject. Today an interview with Padilha was found on the Dutch film site, Film1. Here Padhila talks about how he’s going to handle the remake.

This is what he said when asked how his version will differ from Verhoeven’s:

“I love the sharpness and political tone of RoboCop, and I think that such a film is now urgently needed. But I will not repeat what Verhoeven has done so clearly and strongly. Instead I try to make a film that will address topics that Verhoeven untreated. If you are a man changes into a robot, how do you do that? What is the difference between humans and robots developed? What is free will? What does it mean to lose your free will? Those are the issues that I think.”

So it’s the same but different. We are going to go inside the mind of the Robocop and address his feelings. Okay…still not sold.
