Joseph Gordon-Levitt has a package for you in the trailer for Premium Rush

Sep. 15, 2011by: Dave Davis

If you've seen the 1986 Kevin Bacon QUICKSILVER, you might get flashbacks when watching the trailer for PREMIUM RUSH. Then again, there aren't many other bike messenger movies to compare it to...

The movie stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt as a daredevil NYC courier who inadvertently gets involved in some kind of hokey conspiracy that finds him facing a glowering Michael Shannon and other various cliches. Jamie Chung, Dania Ramirez and "The Daily Show" regular Aasif Mandvi also star in the flick from writer-director David Koepp (JURASSIC PARK, SECRET WINDOW).

Synopsis: Dodging speeding cars, crazed cabbies, open doors, and eight million cranky pedestrians is all in a day's work for Wilee, the best of New York's agile and aggressive bicycle messengers. It takes a special breed to ride the fixie -- super lightweight, single-gear bikes with no brakes and riders who are equal part skilled cyclists and suicidal nutcases who risk becoming a smear on the pavement every time they head into traffic.

But a guy who's used to putting his life on the line is about to get more than even he is used to when a routine delivery turns into a life or death chase through the streets of Manhattan. When Wilee picks up his last envelope of the day on a premium rush run, he discovers this package is different. This time, someone is actually trying to kill him.

PREMIUM RUSH skids into theaters January 13th. Check out the trailer below or in HD at Yahoo.

Extra Tidbit: Speaking of delivery, Aasif Mandvi also fired Peter Parker from his pizza delivery job in SPIDER-MAN 2.

Actually the first time he gets hit in the trailer it becomes obvious it's (near) the end of the movie.
The 2nd time, if you go frame by frame just before the cab hits him, you can actually see a 2nd car come in from the right and hit the cab.
Looks very cool, but too bad they put it in the trailer. Still very excited to see this though, it feels like a 90's action movie and that's a good thing.

Joe Quirk's The Ultimate Rush. I wonder if the police are just as corrupt, too.

?

how many times can one person be hit by a car in a movie and keep walking away? looks like it will follow in the illustrious footsteps of Phone Booth and 16 Blocks as novel ideas that run out of gas after 20 minutes.

Looks like a lot of fun at least. Some of the things from the trailer made me have to look a couple of times, especially that final shot with the taxi. Like the story behind it, sounds like some intense, fast paced action. Looking forward to it.

Looks bagass to me, I hope the story is as good as the action. Makes me think how cool those chases in Snowcrash could look in a film...

Took Forever!

Great script. This filmed like 18 months ago or something and now has a January dump release? I sincerely hope this doesn't suck!

Extra Tidbit

Spider-man 2 has a bunch of people in small roles who became somewhat famous: Joel McHale, Emily Descanhel, the guy who played Jin from Lost, etc. As for this movie, looks like it could either be some dumb fun, or just dumb.
