Joseph Gordon-Levitt makes writing and directorial debut with Scarlett Johansson

Deadline is reporting that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is all set to make his feature writing and directing debut with an untitled film that will star Scarlett Johansson.

The film will be a sexy comedy about about a modern-day Don Juan, and his quest to become less of a “selfish dick.”, with Gordon-Levitt playing said dick. There’s another female lead that’s being cast right now.  Voltage Pictures is financing the film, which will start shooting on April 16th.

Hell of a role he’s on, isn’t he? INCEPTION and 50/50 under his belt, with THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, LOOPER PREMIUM RUSH and LINCOLN hitting this year. He’s done a few short films before so it was only a matter of time before he got into features.

The one downside to this new film is that due to scheduling he might miss out on his supporting role in Quentin Tarantino’s DJANGO UNCHAINED.

“It will be tricky schedule-wise, but I was honest with Quentin upfront,” Gordon-Levitt said. “He was so cool and encouraging. He said, ‘You strike me as the kind of guy who would want to direct,’ and I took that as high praise.”
