Just yesterday, sources revealed that TRON 3 would begin production in Vancouver later this year. While not quite official confirmation from Disney, it was good enough for fans to get excited for the further adventures of the franchise. Now, sources are confirming that not only is TRON 3 in development but they go on to say that TRON: LEGACY director Joseph Kosinski will return.

The Wrap did not go as far as to confirm that filming will begin in October of this year, but it seems like the pieces are all falling into place for an official announcement to come soon.

While TRON focused on Jeff Bridges character, TRON: LEGACY centered on his son as played by Garrett Hedlund, who is expected to reprise his role as Sam. The new film will likely pick up where the last film left off, with Sam and Quorra in the real world. The cameo by Cillian Murphy as Edward Dillinger, Jr, son of the character played by David Warner in the original, has been teased by Joseph Kosinski as being a potential plot point in TRON 3.

TRON 3 has no official release date yet, but expect to see it in 2016.

Sweet! Soundtrack aside, which is superb, this is a movie that continues to grow on me with repeat viewings. Similar to Oblivion and that, in my mind, is excellent film-making. If you can go back and watch a movie and still get something from it,then that's good shit. Same with Oblivion...an underrated sci-fi spectacle.

Less exposition please

More showing, less telling. Other than that, I'm looking forward to this. Frankly if they played their cards right they could do 4th Tron with the original acting as a kind of a Hobbit to the new Trilogy.

Loved Tron: Legacy, flaws and all. I agree with Con_Man below about Kosinski. I love his style, and again, loved Oblivion, flaws and all. One of those guys that I think, if given a Grade A script, could really make a classic film (throw Blomkamp into that level too, although I think he already did with District 9). Anyways, it's a nice time to be a fan of sci-fi/tech-y flicks. A lot of good and interesting ones coming out lately!

Bring it so ready, although this one will probably be less Tron and more action/thriller etc as most of it will probably take place in the boring ole real world. Bah.

I'm glad to see the franchise continue! Hopefully this time we can get less Jeff Bridges, I felt he was overused in the last one, but I partially blame the CGI for that.

Say what you will about Joseph

Both Tron and Oblivion have 10x the personality that most movies these days have.
