Julie Delpy to direct The Right Profile, a biopic of Clash frontman Joe Strummer
Details surrounding the project are scant, but Variety does say that "the idea is to focus on Strummer's life and his planned disappearance from the public spotlight in 1982." The title THE RIGHT PROFILE comes from one of the tracks off The Clash's classic 1979 album London Calling. The iconic British punk figure died in December 2002, just a month before he and The Clash were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Delpy may star in the film too. The filmmaker has appeared in all but one of her previous directorial projects (which include films 2 DAYS IN PARIS, THE COUNTESS, and the yet-to-be-released 2 DAYS IN NEW YORK).
