Jurassic World 2 will shoot in March and connect more with Jurassic Park

Most kids love to imagine what they'll be when they grow up, such as a doctor, a garbageman or a firetruck. The sky's the limit, but many years ago a young Kevin had his heart set on becoming a paleontologist. To me, that was just about the coolest job in the world and I absorbed every single dinosaur book and documentary I could lay my hands on. Steven Spielberg's JURASSIC PARK arrived right at the height of my dinosaur-mania and forever cemented my love for those giants who once walked the Earth. Flash forward twenty years and the JURASSIC PARK franchise was being resurrected in a big way with the release of Colin Trevorrow's JURASSIC WORLD. A great many people around the globe obviously enjoyed heading back to the park, but while I did enjoy the ride, I didn't fall in love with it the same way my younger self did. Perhaps that's a tall order, but I remain hopeful that JURASSIC WORLD 2 and 3 will be more successful.

Colin Trevorrow won't be returning to the director's chair this time around as he's currently tied up in a galaxy far far away, but J.A. Bayona (A MONSTER CALLS) will taking over. The new JURASSIC WORLD 2 director recently spoke with Coming Soon and revealed that shooting on the sequel will kick off in March. Bayona added that while the process to bring the sequel to life has been a very collaborative one, he's hoping that the finished product will include plenty of himself.

Every story is different and you need to find the depth of every story and try to express it on the screen. The ‘Jurassic World’ sequel is a more collaborative filmmaker experience, not only with Colin Trevorrow, but also with Steven [Spielberg] and with Frank Marshall. It’s their baby as much as it is mine. It’s about sharing views and working together to bring the story to life. But, at the same time, the way I face telling a story is to find something very personal. I think there will be plenty of myself also in the film.

When asked by CinemaBlend whether the upcoming film will be more of a JURASSIC WORLD sequel or JURASSIC PARK 5, Bayona responded by saying that it will somehow be both.

What we're doing is a sequel to Jurassic World, but it's definitely the fifth chapter of a longer saga. It's very interesting. It's always tricky, but you need to find a balance in what people expect to find, and the new stuff you're bringing to the story. And I think the story is looking for a connection between Jurassic World and Jurassic Park -- more than what Jurassic World did.

JURASSIC WORLD 2 is set for a June 22, 2018 release, which leaves us plenty of time to theorize on how the sequel will hopefully improve on and depart from the events of JURASSIC WORLD. Sound off with your thoughts in the comments and tell us what you most want to see in the upcoming sequel!

Jurassic world was boring and unimpressive in every way. Storyline and acting was one of the worst. Oh and don't get me started on the stupid back story with the stupid kids. Now they're making another one? Hollywood is going down hill or people will accept any crap that's thrown at them. The dumbing down of America.

No one cares what you have to write because you are clearly a conspiracy theorist that lives in mommy's basement and still sucks on her tits for nurturing. Your poor mom can't get out of the ghetto because your sorry ass won't get a job and leave so she has to use her welfare check to support you! LMAO! You know they made a movie after you, it's called "The 40-yer-old Virgin." LMAO! What a looooooser!

Jurassic World was a mixed bag for me. I enjoyed and disliked a lot of parts. I thought JW was suppose to tie a lot together with Jurassic Park. Now the sequel is going back in the route ?

Expect shoddy CG

These directors keep throwing in shoddy effects that take away from the overall film. The raptors and white T-Rex looked like cartoons when on-screen with the actors. Nobody knew how to interact with the fake dinos. JW sucked but had so much potential.

"These directors"??? Really? Do you know J.A. Bayona's work? Please tell us in which part of The Impossible we can find your shoddy effects?

He is a very talented director and at least he deserves a chance.

Loved Jurassic World and don't really understand all the hate it's gotten from its nostalgia and powerhouse performance at the box office. The way Jurassic World ended, I'm really excited and interested to see where they take the storyline next without it being too repetitive and redundant. Would love to see them bring back the original trio of Neill, Dern, and Goldblum in some capacity.

The main trouble for me was just major logic problems. Lots and lots of "That doesn't make sense."

I see your point and that's obviously fine that you feel like that. I know like most films it has its flaws, but I just found it to ridiculously entertaining and was nice breath of fresh air for the franchise.

I can't wait for this. I loved Jurassic World (damn the haters) and the talent behind this has me extra pumped.

Didn't World ignore The Lost World and III? That was the feeling I got since the events that happened at the end of the second movie are pretty much enough to put anyone off from opening up or going to a dinosaur theme park ever again.
But hey I'm fine either way. I'm that weird guy who enjoys all four of the JP movies (even the third one is fun in a silly B-movie kind of way)

I enjoy all 4 movies as well. I think Lost World and III still happened in this series, they just didn't acknowledge their events in the film. In fact, Jurassic World skips over how they got the park up and running again and convincing the public it was a good idea, which is one of the reasons I consider it the weakest of the series (but as I said, still enjoy it).

I also wanted to be a paleontologist as a kid after seeing Jurassic Park. I really don't know what you do with a sequel to keep the series interesting. The obvious choice is to have a bunch of dinosaurs escape to the main land and create chaos, but even that doesn't interest me too much.
It would be cool if Universal did the same thing they did with Fast Five with this movie (Jurassic 5?) by which I mean bring back characters from all previous 4 films into one movie.
