Updated: Jurassic World; Vistor's Center and D-Rex

06.02.2014

Update:It has since been pointed out that the D-Rex concept art posted is a fake. It seems the look of the creature is still a mystery, but I'll leave the original article as posted for your reading pleasure.

Mild spoilers for those of you wanting to remain in the dark about some plot points.

From the director to the actors to the composer (Michael Giacchino!), JURASSIC WORLD is falling into place. We had a great write-up a little while ago with some story tidbits (that have since been confirmed), and here's a few extra pieces of information to whet your appetite. The first brings a big smile to my face, in that we will see a return to the Visitor's Center in JURASSIC WORLD. And this apparently won't be a rebuilt version of it, but the actual version from JURASSIC PARK. Evidently some of the remains of the original JURASSIC PARK were just left in isolation, and the Visitor's Center is one of them.

The next bit is an official tweet of some concept art of the D-Rex. We know that it is a hybrid dinosaur, and can do all sorts of cool things like unhinge its jaw like a snake, or its intellectual capacity. I know a few were weary about what the design might look like, so here's a possible glimpse:

The design isn't anything drastic, which I think is a good thing. Furthermore, the standout "features" of this dinosaur really have to be seen in motion, rather than in a picture. As productions continues on director Colin Trevorrow's JURASSIC WORLD, we're bound to see more.

JURASSIC WORLD, starring Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Vincent D'Onofrio, Omar Sy, Ty Simpkins, Irrfan Khan, Ty Simpkins, Judy Greer, and Nick Robinson, will open on June 12, 2015.

I think this article should be updated to clarify that the "concept art" of Diabolus Rex is a fan-made fake. I'm still of the conviction that the focus shouldn't be on splicing. Because we don't want this to become Sharktopus.

I have a feeling that Jurassic World will be to Jurassic Park what Prometheus was to Alien. Make of that what you will.

They are going to use the original park and visitors center...they must have a secret original cast cameo or something.

Did a little digging and it's just an Allosaurus, as mentioned by some other users below.

The Diabolus-Rex: The exact point where Jurassic Park officially jumps the shark.

There are too many awesome dinosaurs to bring into the mix without resorting to made up dinos. This is the kind of thing best left to a SyFy movie of the week.

In the lost world book there was an ambush Dino introduced. If I remember correctly, it was a little bigger than a raptor, smart, could camouflage itself and was introduced by a character feeling watch and hearing breathing but not knowing what it was. I always thought that could be a tense sequence ala the raptor kitchen scene from JP1

I am a bit relieved that this thing doesn't look like some crazy looking alien like thing. Still iffy on the trained dinosaur part though so I hope they execute that well.

They they took Jurassic Park and turned it into Man's Best Friend. Sorry, but the logic behind the fauxasaur is just stupid.

Looks great to me!

I think people were beginning to think it would literally look like it had the head of a T-Rex with the body of a cuttlefish stitched onto it or something. People took the word "splicing" and went a little crazy there, but I think this looks great. After hearing Trevorrow's comments on the leaked synopsis and the themes that he's going for here, I think this could be something special. I just hope the T-Rex gets at least one more moment in the sun to play the "hero" card after going out with a

That'd be fantastic. Though from what the director has been saying, they create this new dinosaur because businessmen believe the public is actually getting bored of the typical dinosaurs, so they make one that's bigger, meaner, and a lot more fearsome. I guess that'd make the T-Rex an underdog/has-been in a fight, which could be really interesting to see!

I'm more excited than not, but who in their right mind would go back into the visitors center (in this world). I mean, as soon as JP2 news hit the world, I'd no longer be interested in Dino's at all. And the Dino looks fine, if not incredibly original.

I guess that's true for everyone who goes to visit or work at the island, or world, or whatever. Everybody in this movie who dies...deserves it. I remember hearing one of the earlier drafts, but when is the gov't gonna get ahold of these sons of bitches and use them as weapons. Just drop them in the battlefield.
