Justice League will take inspiration from Akira Kurosawa's Seven Samurai

Batman v Superman Dawn of Justice Justice League Seven Samurai <a data-cke-saved-href=

Many of you have already seen, or are about to see, BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE by now, but director Zack Snyder isn't taking the time to enjoy a break, he's already moving on to his next big film, THE JUSTICE LEAGUE - PART ONE. With production on the film set to kick off in just over two weeks, Snyder has already been dropping teases about what will probably be the biggest film in the DC universe, until THE JUSTICE LEAGUE - PART TWO of course. For the spoiler wary among you, there will likely be a few minor ones below.

Snyder chatted with Yahoo Movies recently and said that the upcoming film will take some inspiration from Akira Kurosawa's SEVEN SAMURAI, as Ben Affleck's Batman will have to round up a group of heroes who don't necessarily want to play by the same rules.

I’m getting ready to start ‘Justice League’ on the 11th of April, so in like two weeks we start shooting, and it’s an intense, awesome, and gigantic undertaking because Bruce [Wayne] is having to go out and sort of ‘Seven Samurai’ the Justice League together, which is fun.

BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE introduced us to most of the core members of the Justice League, but there's still a ways to go before they join up to form a proper superhero team. Zack Snyder said the coming together of the heroes is a "slightly monumental” moment but that "at the same time they’re starting to grapple with this coming threat.” That coming threat is likely to be Darkseid, who was hinted at in a sequence during BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE. Despite the lukewarm reviews that BATMAN V SUPERMAN  has received (I'm off to see it myself tomorrow night, wish me luck) my enthusiasm for JUSTICE LEAGUE hasn't diminished as the thought of seeing all those great DC heroes finally joining forces on the big-screen still feels very cool.

You can check out reviews for BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE from our own Eric Walkuski and Chris Bumbray, and make sure to tell us what YOU thought of the film once you've seen it! Dawn of Justice went down hill in a hurry as soon as Batman and Supes started fighting

I guess its just me and my personal tastes, but I thought Batman v Superman was actually a pretty solid movie up until the final battle scene and the introduction of Doomsday. Marvel did it right by giving every character their own movie before crunching them together in an ensemble picture. Wonder Woman just shows up and you are supposed to accept that she is strong and powerful for no reason at all. Her lasso is not explained in the least and she just fights along with Superman because she's bored I guess. Also, why did Batman stop from killing Superman just because he heard his mother's name. Was that really all it took to snap him out of his maniac mode? I mean, he was ready to murder Superman with no problem whatsoever until he murmured the name of his mom while speaking about a different Martha.

So does that mean that all but three or four of the JLA are going to die?

Bring on Justice League

Dawn of Justice was a solid comic book movie, flawed, but nowhere near the disaster those fucking critics (and haters) claimed it to be. After all, they were the ones that gave Iron Man 2 & 3, Thor 2 and Age of Ultron fresh reviews whereas those movies sucked major balls. Also, this movie gives us the best Batman/Bruce Wayne yet, and Ben Affleck owned the fucking role.

You have a really good point there. Those movies really did suck major donkey balls. So did Dark Knight Rises.

I can dig it.

TONS of movies have been inspired by Kurosawa, especially 7 Samurai.
I do have a question. The Aquaman poster said 'Unite the Seven'. Now that can be read as the seven seas but who could be the missing JLA member?

Batman
Superman
Wonder Woman
Cyborg
Flash
Aquaman
?

Martian Manhunter?

The heck with the critics, they wanted a Marvel movie, they got something more unique that has it's own tone and voice.

Green Lantern. Or Batgirl, but unlikely.

Green Lantern or Hawk Man. Since they're working on a Green Lantern Corps movie, I'd say he would be the best bet. Though I hope to see Hawk Man in there too.

I think I red somewhere that Green Lantern would NOT be in the JLA movies, guys !
Anyway, because I don't see why it would be Aquaman that 'unite' them, I really think it's about the Seven Seas !

You do realize that Adam Sandler did the same thing. Taking inspiration from a movie means nothing, it's just a way to attempt to give your story credit on the back of something better.

And let's not forget 'Throne of Blood', which inspired William Shakespeare to write 'Macbeth'.

DoJ was a solid 7/10, fuck the critics and their dickriders

Yea the movie is a little disjointed but it's nowhere near as bad as they say it was, way better than trash like Green Lantern and the original Daredevil. I can't wait to check out the extended cut to see how it flows.

Audience scores on every website are at least a 7.

After how awesome Dawn of Justice was with its action and interactions amongst Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman, I absolutely can't wait to see Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg join in on all the fun. What would be great to see when Batman is recruiting is to challenge each Justice League member to see if there worthy or not.

So WB is just going to let him make Justice League even after all the negative reviews? Time to fire everyone but the cast I'd say. Right?

Kind of late to be firing "everyone but the cast". This comes out in a year and a half.

True. Well at least they can look over the script again. Calling for people to be fired is kind of jacked.

Fire the cast, too. A total reboot of this miserable shit is very much needed.

All these replies are nuts. It was an AWFUL movie. Zach Snyder needs to be fired. He's what George Lucas was to the prequel trilogy...he's a cancer on the franchise. I question anyones movie taste and knowledge that would argue otherwise.
