Kate Mara to star in sci-fi thriller Morgan directed by Ridley Scott’s son

Morgan Luke Scott Kate Mara

Kate Mara has been cast in another FOX movie. According to THR, the FANTASTIC FOUR and THE MARTIAN actress will star in MORGAN, the directorial debut of Ridley Scott's son Luke Scott. The site has also learned that Anya Taylor-Joy (THE WITCH) is in talks to join the film as well. Scott Owens wrote the 2014 Black List script, and the elder Scott is producing the sci-fi thriller with his Scott Free partners Michael Schaefer and Elishia Holmes.

Synopsis:

The story centers on a corporate risk-management consultant who is summoned to a remote research lab to determine whether or not to terminate an at-risk artificial being.

While MORGAN will be Luke Scott's first big screen movie as a director, he helmed the sci-fi short LOOM (video below) and served as a second unit director on Ridley Scott's EXODUS: GODS AND KINGS. Luke Scott is following in the footsteps of not only his father, but also his siblings Jordan Scott (CRACKS) and Jake Scott (WELCOME TO THE RILEYS). MORGAN may sound a little like the upcoming Alex Garland movie EX MACHINA, but I'm interested in seeing if Luke Scott has learned a thing or two from his old man.

FANTASTIC FOUR opens on August 7, 2015, and Ridley Scott's THE MARTIAN will be in theaters on November 25, 2015.
