Now that shooting is underway, there have been some very interesting pictures dropping for Ridley Scott's follow-up to PROMETHEUS. The man seems intent on delivering what's arguably an unwarranted sequel, so perhaps the following might pave the way for a little excitement? Below we have a behind-the-scenes photo taken of Katherine Waterston's character, Daniels, on the set of COVENANT. It was released on social media with the hashtag 'Nowhere to run'! As can be expected with a Ridley Scott film, the set looks amazing! Check it out!

I actually really dug PROMETHEUS, despite its flaws, and while I'm not exactly pumped to see COVENANT, I'm curious to know why Ridley Scott was so keen on returning to this universe. Not only that, but also why Noomi Rapace's character seems to be completely out of the picture. I suppose the fact we have questions is a good first step! Now if they ditch the dumb scientists and the poor old-age make-up, we may have a solid flick on our hands!

ALIEN: COVENANT is scheduled to hit theaters on August 4, 2017.

Not surprised.....

Prometheus was awesome. Too many pretentious tools whining. Unwarranted sequel, flaws, waaaaah. Shut your cack holsters and write something worth people's time.

Please let this character's arc/development be more convincing than Noomi Rapace's. I still remember that stupid scene in Prometheus, (one of many) where they brief the crew and Shaw gets questioned on how she knows that the engineers created humans. Her response is, "it's what I choose to believe." Okay...but what is this belief based upon? More paintings depicting such things? Ancient hieroglyphics? ANYTHING??!! In other words, you just liked the idea so you chose to believe it. That is

I wish pink elephants and unicorns existed, but their existence won't be any more credible simply by me wishing it were so.

I'm curious to know why Ridley Scott was so keen on returning to this universe.

Ridley is pretty advanced in age and likely close to the end, so I imagine that thoughts of mortality and the meaning of life are pretty big in his head right now. I think these films allow him to explore potential answers to those big questions.

@psycheoutsteve: guess you never saw Blade Runner then. It's one of the best movies I've ever seen about existentialism and the meaning of life.

I'm not talking about where his head was, just where it is now, which if Prometheus is any indication is firmly up his aging ass. Blade Runner is more about what it is to be human and alive than it is a meditation on the point or meaning of life, at least it is to me. If anything, that movie sort of preached that where we come from is irrelevant, it's more about what we feel and what we do. Prometheus goes in the opposite direction. However, if you liked any of the story content to Blade Runner

However, if you liked any of the story content to Blade Runner then you have Philip K. Dick to thank for writing the short novel, "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" more than you have Scott to thank. You can thank Scott for creating 2 of the most visually arresting sci-fi films ever made, but that's a whole other achievement.

ok, so far so good.

Though, I think this is the last post, here or anywhere else, that I am alloying myself to read. I'll watch a teaser (since that's the trend now), but maybe not the trailer. I want to walk in completely fresh.

I think a lot of Alien fans have the same love/hate relationship with Prometheus. Despite that, I hope we get something special with this and then get another solid movie from Neill Blomkamp

I think Blomkamp would rather forget about the last two films. But yeh District 9 was pretty awesome.

Love/Hate

A real love/hate relationship with Prometheus. So much good, but so much bad.... I am excited to see this. Not green, because I would have prefer to see more of Noomi Rapace's character, and her adventures.

Yeh I would at least like to know that we will get answers to what happened to Elizabeth Shaw.
