Kaya Scodelario in talks for female lead in Pirates of the Caribbean 5

Last month we learned Kaya Scodelario was one of the actresses up for the female lead in PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES, and now Deadline is reporting that she is in talks for the role. If Scodelario lands the gig, she'll star alongside Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush, and Javier Bardem in the fifth installment of the POTC series.

Kaya Scodelario starred as Teresa in THE MAZE RUNNER, and will reprise her part in the upcoming sequel, but the British actress got her breakout role playing Effy Stonem in the U.K. series Skins. Scodelario has also appeared in films like THE TRUTH ABOUT EMANUEL, CLASH OF THE TITANS and Andrea Arnold's WUTHERING HEIGHTS.

I enjoyed the first movie, however I didn't care for the sequels, so I have almost no interest in checking out another PIRATES flick. Maybe a trailer will come out that will change my mind, but I am sure I'm not the only one who is kind of done with the series.

PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES is set to open on July 7, 2017.
