Ken Marino and Erica Oyama will write an adaptation of Go the F*ck to Sleep for Fox

One of the greatest gifts you can receive for your child is a copy of Adam Mansbach’s GO THE F*CK TO SLEEP. The other day my mom grabbed the book and for some reason didn’t see the title. When she opened it up, she started to read what seemed like a nice little children’s book then suddenly go to a line that said, “Go the f*ck to sleep.” She sort of jumped back at first, turned the book to the cover, and finally read the title which was the same startling line that she had just read. Then she laughed her ass off, and continued to read the book. Needless to say she really enjoyed it.

Imagine her surprise when I tell her that a big screen version of the book is on its way. Fox has hired Ken Marino (PARTY DOWN, WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER) and his wife Erica Oyama to write the adaptation. This is a win for me as I love Marino, and some of the writing he’s done for CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL and ROLE MODELS.

The book came out of Mansbach’s frustration trying to get his daughter to go to sleep. As soon as word of the book hit, Samuel L. Jackson and Werner Herzog both did readings. I love both, however, Herzog’s interpretation is the best. It’s like some trippy nightmare. I’ve included the live reading he did below.
