Kevin Feige thinks Black Panther is the best Marvel movie yet

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

The first three days for BLACK PANTHER have been larger than anyone anticipated, earning an astronomical $192 million. That number will keep skyrocketing as critics and audiences continue to agree it’s perhaps Marvel’s best effort ever – as evidenced by the 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and the rare A+ Cinemascore. The critics and fans aren’t alone in their thinking, and even Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige thinks PANTHER is the studio’s best work yet.

During an interview with ABC News, Feige recalls his first reaction to seeing the movie, in which he turned to director Ryan Coogler and bestowed upon him some high praise.

The movie finished, and I looked over at Ryan, I said, "That's the best movie we've ever made."

High praise indeed. This is coming from the man who has produced every movie in the MCU, including THE AVENGERS, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, IRON MAN and more. Feige's words seem to reflect the general consensus, as the movie is receiving extremely high audience scores from exit polls, and the RT score is the highest ever for a superhero movie, including movies like THE DARK KNIGHT and last year’s LOGAN and WONDER WOMAN.

Now, everyone has their favorite Marvel movie, and the list keeps getting harder and harder to compile as the studio keeps pumping out terrific efforts like CIVIL WAR, SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING and THOR: RAGNAROK. PANTHER no doubt ranks high on the list, with the movie's villain, production design, music and political/social themes among some of the best in the MCU, if not THE best. The fever may have to settle down a bit before I can firmly place it somewhere in my own line-up, but there's no denying PANTHER has achieved an incredible thing by bringing audiences together in a way no blockbuster movie has.

What do you guys think? Is it the best Marvel movie yet? One of the best? Overrated? Let us know below!
