King Arthur goes balls to the wall in final Legend of the Sword trailer

04.01.2017

The tale of King Arthur is one of the oldest and most magnificent tales in all Western history, and Guy Ritchie is trying to make fun and energetic and stylish and brand-spanking new with KING ARTHUR: LEGEND OF THE SWORD. The final trailer for the Charlie Hunnam/Jude Law vehicle, and it takes the classic tale and cranks right up to 11. F@ck it, 12.

I have no clue how well this movie is gonna do coming out only one week after GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, but it looks like a pretty crazy time at the movies. There’s massive elephants, fast-paced action, a sword that bashing foes like Batman. It looks all over the place, which may be what the story needs. And more giant elephants. I only saw one here. This movie needs at least infinity more.

KING ARTHUR: LEGEND OF THE SWORD comes charging in on May 12.

It seems that yet again we get a Arthur movie focused more on looking cool than having any substance.

Of course, I wouldn't expect anything different from Guy Richie. His early work way intriguing, but now all he does is take old stories that don't need retelling and makes them unnecessarily chaotic.

Listen -- strange women lying in ponds distributing swords
is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives
from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony.

You can't expect to wield supreme executive power
just 'cause some watery tart threw a sword at you!

Seriously thanks for pointing that out, when from thinking he was an idiot to realizing he was pretty damn funny.

After the Sherlock movies and the severely underrated Man from U.N.C.L.E., I'll give anything Guy Ritchie does a shot. This looks fantastic.

Prolly gonna massively bomb at the BO, but I'll go see it. Everyone shit on Warcraft before it came out and it ended up being pretty good. I've enjoyed pretty much all of Ritchie's movies that I've seen (Swept Away will never exist in this dojo), so I'll give it a shot on a cheap Tuesday matinee.

Oh, King eh? Very nice. And how'd you get that, eh? By exploiting the workers. By hanging on to outdated imperialist dogma which perpetuates the economic and social differences in our society.

I usually enjoy Arthurian legends on the screen. And Vortigen is a character I'm not familiar with yet (I know this was planned as a series if it does well enough). Individually the shots looks amazing, but Guy Ritchie's style can be so frenetic, that I hope the camera actually lingers on some of that scenery long enough for me to take it in.

His style does take getting used to and doesn't always work for me. I didn't care for the trailer, but hopefully the movie turns out alright.

No matter how many trailers I watch, can't even get a little excited for this.
