Krysten Ritter has been cast as Jessica Jones in the Marvel/Netflix series

After screen testing five actresses including the super sexy Alexandra Daddario, Netflix and Marvel have found their Jessica Jones. Deadline reports that former BREAKING BAD actress Krysten Ritter has landed the role of the second member of THE DEFENDERS after Charlie Cox as Daredevil.

The source is not official but claims that it came down to Ritter and Teresa Palmer, but Ritter’s chemistry with potential Luke Cage actor Mike Colter sealed the deal. TWILIGHT writer Melissa Rosenberg is overseeing the series.

The 13 episode drama centers on Jessica Jones, a superhero suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, which leads to her hanging up her costume and opening her own detective agency, where she ends up helping people and assisting other superheroes.

Jessica Jones is a minor character compared to the Marvel cinematic characters like Iron Man and Captain Marvel, but depending on the success of this series, DAREDEVIL, IRON FIST, and LUKE CAGE, along with the mini-series THE DEFENDERS that brings them all together, Marvel could bring these heroes to the big screen. So far, I have liked the casting choices and while I preferred Daddario to Ritter, I am willing to give this a shot.

JESSICA JONES will likely premiere sometime in 2015 on Netflix.
