L.A. Movie Music Fans: Meet film composer David Shire!

100%

If you're a fan of incredible film scores, then you're probably well aware of David Shire, the man behind the music of Francis Ford Coppola's masterful THE CONVERSATION, the original TAKING OF PELHAM ONE TWO THREE, as well as ALL THE PRESIDENT'S MEN, RETURN TO OZ, SHORT CIRCUIT, and ZODIAC among many others. My two favorites of his - the brassy and energetic THE TAKING OF PELHAM ONE TWO THREE and the mysterious and soulful THE CONVERSATION - are embedded below for your listening pleasure. Both are wonderful examples of music, and more specifically themes, that inform the total tone and feel of their respective films.

Anyway, enough of my yapping. Listen to the tracks below, and for the Angeleno Schmoes in the audience, check out where and when you can see, hear, and meet one of film's great composers by clicking RIGHT HERE.

Thanks to Ain't It Cool for the awesome heads up!

Extra Tidbit: David Shire was once married to Francis Ford Coppola's sister, Talia Shire.

The Conversation is one of my favorite compositions for film ever. It's so nuanced and haunting, while maintaining a feeling of whimsy...very strange and beautiful.
