Last month a report surfaced that Bradley Cooper was courting Lady Gaga for his A STAR IS BORN remake, and now Deadline has learned that singer/actress is officially in talks to join the project. According to the site, the pair tested and Warner Bros. "loved the results."

If Gaga does sign on (and it seems like she will), she'll star opposite Cooper, who will also make his directorial debut with the remake. Beyonce was set to star in the film a few years ago back when Clint Eastwood was attached to direct, and Cooper also wanted her for the role, but things didn't work out with Queen Bey.

A STAR IS BORN, which "centers on a movie star who helps an aspiring young actress find fame, even as age and alcoholism send his own career into a downward spiral," has already been remade twice, once in 1954 with Judy Garland and James Mason in the lead roles, and again in 1976 with Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson. The original movie was released in 1937, and starred Janet Gaynor and Fredric March.

Gaga will be back for the sixth season of FX's American Horror Story, while Cooper can be seen next in Todd Phillips' WAR DOGS on August 19, 2016.
