Which Alien franchise character may make an appearance in Prometheus?

05.14.2012

This article may contain a spoiler for PROMETHEUS. Turn back now if you don't want to have even the slightest smidgen information about the movie. You have been warned.

Despite Ridley Scott’s constant urging that PROMETHEUS is not a prequel to ALIEN, we continue to get links to that classic film. Aside from the Space Jockey, Weyland Corporation, the teaser trailer style and sound effects, and the input from H.R. Giger, the movie appears to be its own monster entirely.

So it does not come as a huge surprise that Lance Henriksen will be appearing in a cameo role in PROMETHEUS. The man who played Bishop in ALIENS and Charles Bishop Weyland in ALIEN VS PREDATOR will be making his first appearance in a Ridley Scott film. He had this to say regarding the role.

“Somebody through the grapevine, I heard that they’re using a digital version of me to describe history," Henriksen said while promoting the TV series "TRON Uprising" in which he voices the character Tesler.

No word on whether the Henriksen footage will be as Bishop, Weyland or yet another new character. The actor himself is waiting to see the footage, as are his representatives.

"Very interesting, I can’t wait to see it," Henriksen said. "Neither can my manager.”

Sounds like some kind of stock footage appearance, but will it be as the android or the precursor to Guy Pearce’s Peter Weyland? I would hesitate to think Sir Ridley would link his films to the dreck that was ALIEN VS. PREDATOR, but you never know.

PROMETHEUS lands in 32 days.

Lance also played the "original" Weyland in Alien 3. However, I like Spraragen88's theory, as it sounds the most plausible and relevant. I'm going to add to it and suggest Bishop Weyland dies, which inspires his mourning son Peter to push hard for the creation of androids as a way of reincarnating his father, which results in the Bishop android line seen in Aliens. The lines from which David and Ash sprang are the prototype stage.

Math?

Between now and June 8 is 25 days, not 32.

Peter Weyland

I thought Guy Pierce was playing Peter Weyland... Does this mean we will perhaps see Father and Son together?

I wouldn't really call it much of a spoiler, because even before i clicked the article i thought it's probably bishop who makes an appearance, Ripley would be too obvious.

This is miniscule news though. I'd hate to have to be a writer for Joblo - having to cater to grown babies who act like their summer is ruined over maybe a 30 second scene of a movie. The title didn't even say what his role was, just that he has a cameo. It's not like it says "Bruce Willis is a ghost the whole time." As the one guy mentioned: first world problems.

right on. I know I've already seen it before but it's great that you were good enough to change the title and I assume will do it this way in the future as well, just want to say thanks and cheers -- we all really appreciate it!

Grateful for the speedy edit of the article title =). And Slimbo0330, there is a difference between taking an active interest in movie news, and wishing to have precise details about movies revealed to you before seeing the actual movie as a whole.

Slimbo0330, you can't be serious? So if someone is interested in movies for casting news, production cost, etc. they shouldn't visit this site? I don't understand the thinking behind this comment. I come to Joblo because it has the latest information about a movie, but sometimes, especially when I'm greatly anticipating something, it gets spoiled by a simple headline article title is makes me not want to visit this site unless I'm heading directly to the forums.

YOU can't be serious. You say you come here for casting news. IS this not casting news? If anything, I'm more intrigued to see what type of appearance it will be. If this site is repeatedly ruining your life by saying that someone appears in a movie, then quit coming here.

Oh, no. This movie sure is ruined now, isn't it? It's like the guy the other day that was bitching about a Anchorman 2 trailer being before the Dictator and how that surprise was spoiled for him. Get a life, people. If you don't want to read about movies, then don't visit a movie news website.

As the guy you're talking about who was "bitching" about this, I don't understand how my point has to be defended. Please see what JigSaw and Dave! had to say up above. It's all correct. I don't come here for spoilers but rather for news. When they spoil something, I stop frequenting their site and thereby miss out on the ads they want me to see. Circle of spoilery life, my friend. And yeah, I "bitched" over on Arrow about this. I hate spoilers when I'm not looking for them.

wow not cool

thanks for the spoiler man...

Next time if an article is going to have a spoiler in it, especially if it's about the spoiler can you guys just be considerate and just put 'Click here for new *movie title* spoiler!' instead of just putting the spoiler or potential spoiler in the title... damn, come on...

(EDIT: Title now fixed, thanks for the quick response guys!) I do not know how many times schmoes have complained about this, seriously, STOP PUTTING SPOILERS IN THE ARTICLE TITLE! I can stop myself from reading an article if I know it contains details I don't want to know about, but when its the headline you see it and then too late, what might have been a really awesome surprise while sitting in the cinema is instantly ruined.
