Land of Lost poster

For some reason, Will Ferrell and Danny McBride in LAND OF THE LOST, a movie with realistic dinosaurs on the prowl, works for me. I'm not sure entirely why, especially considering how THE LOST WORLD, with Vince Vaughn, didn't work at all. Probably because there's a very big comedic factor to LAND OF THE LOST whereas Vince Vaughn was presumably trying to be serious in THE LOST WORLD (I'd much rather see WEDDING CRASHERS Vince Vaughn in a dinosaur movie). So I'm excited about LAND OF THE LOST and I'm really looking forward to a trailer to see how they pull off having realistically rendered dinosaurs interacting with Will Ferrell. Today though we get the new poster for the film courtesy of Cinematical. Check out the teaser below and click to see the full image on their site. LAND OF THE LOST hits theaters this June.

I seem to be in the minority with McBride but I chuckled at him in Tropic Thunder and fell asleep when he was on screen talking about his cats and birthday cakes in Pineapple Express.. as was most of the theater.

This poster is AWFUL. Welcome to photoshop hell. I'm pretty sure I'm in the minority that thinks Ferrell should be delegated to supporting-roles only in movies. He's a funny guy and loved his SNL stuff, but none of his movies work for me. I just don't think he can carry a movie with his type of humor, acting, or whatever you want to call it.

Hmmm..

I am a HUGE fan of the original Land of the Lost. I think I may have been one of the only huge fans of the original who WASN'T disgusted by the idea of this movie. Ferrell hadn't had a good movie in a while but I REALLY liked Step Brothers. I've enjoyed everything Danny McBride has done (including his new HBO show. The pilot was HILARIOUS) but can see how his comedic stylings aren't for everyone. Anna Friel was the most adorable, quick-witted dead person to ever be on television. Jorma is in it, as well.....playing Chaka! If you put all of these things together, it seems like a pretty amazing movie. But it also feels like, if not handled correctly, it could be fucking TERRIBLE.

That being said, this poster doesn't really do much for me besides the Sleestack tease in the background.

as long as it's nothing like the lame nickelodeon show that i watched as a kid. i hope they don't have that little ape boy in there. what was hit name? skeet? stink? something like that.

whatever man mcbride is hilarious in hot rod. i agree with you on tropic thunder but i thought he was great in pinneapple express

Ferrell, as much as I love the guy's work, has had some really shitty movies of late. He hasn't had a hilarious movie in a long, long time. Danny McBride hasn't impressed me AT all. His scenes in Tropic Thunder and Pineapple Express were the weakest and most unfunny of all. We'll see how this turns out, but as of now, I'm not sold.
