Land of Sleestak

7 years agoby:

Update: We recently received the high res Sleestak goodness. Click those bug eyes to big-size that reptilian bastard.

If you are/were a fan of the "Land of the Lost" TV series, you'll no doubt remember the dangerous reptilian-like race of creatures populating the land in which the protagonists suddenly find themselves lost in - the Sleestak. In the currently filming Will Ferrell starring feature adaptation, they're back, and USA Today has your very first look at them. They haven't changed drastically from the original - they're a little shorter and greener - but, as director Brad Silberling promises in the accompanying article, they'll be good, ole fashioned guys in costumes as they were in the series and not CGI. In the film, Ferrell is a park ranger who, along with Anna Friel and Danny McBride, find themselves transported to a land populated by dinosaurs, the Sleestak and all kinds of hilarity-inducing creatures. Check out the full pic over HERE. The Sleestak attempt to put the hurt on Ferrell July 17th of next year.

Extra Tidbit: LOST writer Chris Henchy is a co-executive producer on "Entourage". Does that mean there'll be a threeway?

I don't get it

The Sleestak looked way cooler in the Nickelodeon re-vamp of Land of the Lost. They raised the bar on their appearance and behavior. Why were they brought back down to their 70s shittyness for this movie?

I'm still HATING what they're doing to 'Land of the Lost'.

Sure, it was a cheap, kids' series...but it was also a surprisingly intelligent, cheap, kids' series (like how the Sleestak, for example, devolved from a technologically advanced race into a bunch of primitive, superstitious nitwits) that was written by the likes of Larry Niven, Theodore Sturgeon and Ben Bova.

And it sure as hell wasn't a (yet another!) Will Farrell spoof.

If Hollywood can respect a cartoon that was basically

If Hollywood can respect a cartoon that was basically just a glorified commercial for a pre-existing line of toys ('Transformers') then why can't they also respect 'Land of the Lost'?

Shouldn't the tidbit have been:

"Please chime below if you've met any sight of a Sleestak with mild to moderate sexual arousal."
