Latest Daily Bugle viral blog for Amazing Spider-Man 2 teases Carnage

Apr. 10, 2014by: Jesse Giroux

Sony's Daily Bugle blog has been updated again, and the latest edition teases a villain many fans would love to see on the big screen: Cletus Kasady AKA Carnage. Yahoo! has a first look at the newest scoop from the viral blog, and Carnage isn't the only symbiote teased in the article.

KILLER KASADY CAUGHT
By Eddie Brock

The greater New York tri-state area got a whole lot safer yesterday.  Captured late last night, Cletus Kasady, escaped serial killer and notorious redhead, was eerily calm and subdued when he eagerly surrendered to the FBI. The manhunt for the FBI’s Most Wanted felon ended innocuously in a small strip mall outside of New Rochelle, New York.

A barista at a local coffee shop recognized Kasady and eventually called the police.  The barista apologized to reporters later admitting she didn’t immediately alert authorities hoping Spider-Man would beat them to the scene.  “What can I say?  I am a HUGE fan.”

Kasady had been sentenced to twelve life sentences for the twelve murders he committed — but escaped while being transported between federal prisons. Sources say Kasady has been remanded to Ravencroft Institute for further interrogation until he is relocated to a maximum security federal prison. While the barista didn’t get her wish, we know Spider-Man thanks her… as we all do. For now it appears that Kasady won’t be causing any more carnage.

Nice touch having Eddie Brock write the article. Brock is of course Venom, and we already know Sony is developing a spin-off featuring the villain. In the comics Cletus Kasady shared a prison cell with Brock, and transformed into Carnage after the Venom symbiote's offspring attached itself to Kasady. Carnage is quite different in the Ultimate comics (Cletus Kasady isn't involved and it's not an alien), but if Carnage is going to appear in Sony's Spidey movies, he'll likely be a combination of the two versions.

Do we have any way of knowing if Sony is actually planning on using Carnage in a future film? No, but with a SINISTER SIX movie in the works as well, anything is possible.

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 will be in theaters on May 2nd, 2014.

I think that if they are going to bring Carnage into the movies then Jackie Earle Haley is an awesome choice. However, if they skew the character to a younger age I think Jesse Plemmons would do an awesome job with the character as well.

Carnage is not in this or the next movie, he is being used as a video game character...

Carnage isn't in the movies. These articles by Eddie Brock are written to advertise the movie and the PS4/Xbone game.

So far the game will include: Carnage, Rhino, Electro, Kingpin, Kraven, Black Cat, and Kid Goblin.

Carnage?

If they're going to put Carnage on the screen, I would hope they get a good actor for Cletus, and I can think of nobody better than Jackie Earle Haley, the prison scenes in Watchmen alone should convince you, a dirty angry crazy redhead. Kind of short too which I think fits.

It's funny, everyone associates Eddie Brock with Venom, but in reality, he hasn't been Venom in almost 10 years.

Honestly, I think an Agent Venom story with Flash Thompson chasing down Carnage would make for a better/believable story.

Depending on when they actually introduce Venom, how do you go from eating brains to being a hero, in what, maybe 1.5 hours?

Eddie Brock Venom should be part of the Sinister 6, and once defeated the Government could then capture the symbiot, setting up

"Everyone" associates Hal Jordan with GL. On a smaller scale, "everyone" associates Batman as Bruce Wayne, but I can think of 6 ppl who have used his costume to go out and fight crime. 3 characters did it in one trade. Give me 20 mins and I can think of another 10 comic characters

And, he obviously wouldn't eat brains in the film.

Based off of the early early reviews I have been reading, some of them are saying that the film spends too much time setting up the sequels and spin off and doesn't really accomplish some main stuff like.......Spoliers

Peter attending any of his college classes or even stepping foot into The Daily Bugle. And that Electro is let down as a villain by the whole film.

For me, I think that's an important aspect to show.

just curious as to how it advances the story. If they tell me hes in college then fine I buy it. I dont need to see him sitting around jotting down notes unless it somehow advances the plot/story forward. Ive read the ign review and some of the complaints seem like genuine nitpicking and complaining of the fact that its a reboot of the raimi series. Sorta like having a negative attitude towards a movie b4 seeing it and while you are watching it you are picking apart every single thing as if

ConMan the point being something like that would ground Peter as a character. He's not just a superhero, he's a kid with kid problems like going to school, etc.

Can't believe I just defended a Soloist post, I feel light headed.

who says the character development isnt elsewhere. The reviews point out that the strong points of the movie are the character beats of Peter dealing with his various relationships, including his with Gwen. I believe showing his day to day goings is important, but i dont need every detail meticulously laid out. his relationships with aunt may, gwen, his friends, etc is more important than jotting down notes that E=Mc2
