Leaked Terminator: Genesis pics show battle-damaged Arnold Schwarzenegger

Jun. 6, 2014by:

The first on-set photos of Alan Taylor's TERMINATOR: GENESIS featuring Arnold and the gang hit last week, and initially seemed off-putting. Gone were the infamous leather pants and jacket for our favorite killing machine, and given that this is Sarah Conner circa the first film, it was odd to see her brandishing a gun. I mean, she couldn't even balance her checkbook!!! I think those pictures were a sure sign that TERMINATOR: GENESIS is out to deliver something truly different. I hope so, in any case. I'm over sub-par Terminator sequels at this point. This week's leaked pictures don't give us much in the way of possible plot points, except that Arnold's model gets in a scuffle (you can see some scarring on his face in the close-ups).

Check it out:

Arnold's lookin' in-shape, that's for sure. The film's not going to hit theaters for another 13 months, so we have a whole lot of speculation in the meantime. Plot points are being kept tightly under wraps, which leads me to believe not everything is as it seems.

TERMINATOR: GENESIS, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Emilia Clarke, and Jai Courtney, is currently filming and slated for a July 1, 2015 release.

Why does a Terminator have gray hair? I thought they didn't age...?

In Terminator 2 it was explained that their battery lasts about 120 years. So one can assume that living tissue over metal will eventually break down...

The first Terminator explains that the Terminators are made of living tissue over endoskeletons. Anything living ages. The film even has a deleted scene that shows the Terminator eating to sustain the living tissue.

at first i was like, why is a Terminator smoking a cigar like some cheesy action hero cliche. then i realized, that's just Arnold being Arnold off-camera.

I'd hardly call that battle damage. But with every new image I see I get more and more excited for this movie! I really hope the story is amazing and it's a box office hit for Arnold's sake

I don't really think it is so much battle damage as it is scarring from previous battles.

Hate their explanation of Arnold's/Terminator's skin. It's ridiculous. This universe has invented time travel and machines that can act like humans and other crazy machines, but they can't create some sort of skin/flesh that's more like rubber? That stays the same unless shot/burned? That's silly. I wish they wouldn't have even addressed it. I'm already accepting that this universe is doing all those things, I can accept that Arnold the actor hasn't aged despite looking much older

Don't even worry ab the explanation. Kind of like in looper. I LOVED the movie (when's that guy going to get a big franchise movie?), but I don't think the amount of effort to make the actors look the same was needed. Just tell me they are the same person and I'm fine. I get it.

They did create a skin that was more like rubber. It was on the T-600 models and is part of the reason they created the T-800 with living human flesh over a metal endoskeleton. The rubber skin made them easy to spot.

So 'battle damaged' just means he went without makeup?

Wow, Arnold looks huge! I'm really looking forward to this movie, in fact, it's my most anticipated movie of 2015. I just hope it lives up the the hype that I've created for myself.

He looks friggin' awesome. As far as who he's playing the best theory out there I saw was on the imdb message boards by a poster who seems to know the basic outline of the story and isn't just theorizing. You can read below:

There's pre 1984 stuff that starts the alternative 1984. Arnold is sent back in time to when Sarah is a child. To watch over here and act as a Guardian for her. So when 1984 comes Sarah Connor is much more like T2 Sarah Connor then the original film. Then when Reese and bad T-800 travel back to 1984, Sarah and slightly aged Arnold Terminator waiting for them. So we will see two T-800 in 1984. Then after they defeat the bad younger T-800, a T-1000 comes and it leads to them time jumping at some point. While the middle aged T-800 Guardian Terminator stays in the past and continues to age to 2017. In this movie we will see three different ages of T-800. The original film look, middle aged and older silver haired from the pictures.

While this does make sense in a general plot scenario. How the hell are they going to defeat the T-1000 again if it literally almost killed everyone to defeat him the first time. Buuuut I'm sure they have a slick way to answer that in the film.

I'm from New Orleans (still here), and I saw Arnie at a gas station a few days ago, and he looks jacked. He looks even bigger in person. Anyway, I like these pics, and I like the idea of an older T-800, I think it's a clever move. I'm also really excited about Genesis, I think Alan Taylor will make the first great Terminator film since T2.

Theory

I've got a theory that might be a little out there.

What if Arnold isn't playing a terminator at all? What if he's playing the man the Terminators were modelled after? Hence the aging and scaring?

They could do the same thing they did with T4 and have old Arnold vs young Arnold.

Calling it now....

This is what he starts the movie in, but he ends up in the traditional garb by the end in the big [link] -applause-" moment.

At 66 the Austrian Oak looks superb. He has a quote that I always think of on my trips to the gym..

"The meaning of life is not to exist, to survive, but to move ahead, to go up, to achieve, to conquer."
