A schmoe known as Harrison Gantz sent us these pics from the set of the Will Smith-starring I AM LEGEND, a horror/thriller based on the Richard Matheson novel of the same name in which Smith plays the only person in the world not afflicted by a virus that's ravaged the globe and turned everyone into bloodthirsty vampires. Needless to say, he's got a lot of hungry vampires looking to feed on his flesh so he spends his days hunting and his nights doing his goddamnedest to stop those bloodsucking bastards from getting to him. The pictures aren't too exciting but news is slow-going these days so some charred vampires, some actual vampires (or at least dudes in vampire make-up), some generic shots of rubble, a "Quarantine" sign and THIS VIDEO of an action sequence will have to do. I AM LEGEND opens December 14th.

Extra Tidbit: Ridley Scott was attached to direct with Arnold Schwarzenegger in the lead in 1997 but Warner Bros. shut down production when the budget escalated to over 100 million.

I Am Legend???

I've already commented on this at length in the appropriate thread in the Upcoming Horror Movie forum. And even though I think this is going to be a complete fucking mess I still have to pick up on a few of points raised by Danger^Cart below. 1. Yes...The Omega man was bad 2. If you had read I Am Legend you would know that The Omega Man was nothing like the book and therefore it's a story...

The Omega Man was bad enough. The story just isn't anywhere near interesting enough to warrant a remake. This will be crap.
