Lemony Snicket 2?

05.26.2009

Apparently, there is a distinct possibility that there will be a second LEMONY SNICKET film. While at a premiere for LAND OF THE LOST, Cinefools got the chance to talk to director Brad Silberling, who told them that, well, find out in the following quote!

You know it's really funny there was a period of time, about a year ago, where I would have said "Oh, good luck" because it was mired in so many things. It was a co-production between Paramount and Dreamworks and there were studio politics and I actually think it's going to see the light of day. and I, he's the writer of... is very friendly with Mr. Snicket I should say, we stay in constant touch about it, because I would love nothing more than to do that and we've been hoping to, so I think there will be a chance it may take a wildly different form but I think it will probably happen."

Silberling's next project, it should be pointed out, is not LEMONY SNICKET, it is a self written satire about the current economic climate. But are we excited for this sequel possibility? Lukewarm? Will people realize LeBron hit more than three jumpers in a game? And what the hell is gonna happen in the next season of Lost??? Argh, questions!
Extra Tidbit: It took three hours for Jim Carrey's make-up for LEMONY SNICKET'S A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS to be applied.

To 'VincentCostigan' and others

I'm a huge fan of Lemony Snicket's books and movie. I think the movie was awesome although it was not that faitful to the books. But they had to change it and D.Handler was okay with that.

They could do only ONE sequel, as a summary of the books. The scriptwriter is a close friend of Handler so I suppose it will be really successful, cause there are still a lot of fans who want a sequel and Liam Aiken and Emily Browning who are 19 and 20, still look young (plus, they could change the

That's just my opinion, I totally support this sequel.

Sure.

Maybe this movie didn't work for the people who read this website, but there's plenty of 11 year olds out there who would love another movie.

The DVD is a regular play in our house.

I didn't care for the first one anyways..Jim Carrey was just acting like Jim Carrey like always, and that pseudo incest plot was just too creepy for a kids movie.

I did like the visual look of the movie though.

I liked the first flick alot, the visuals were great, as was the cast. I feel like they'd need to recast the kids now though, which is a shame. They were perfectly cast IMO.

Im hip to these news because I love the first movie. Its a beautiful movie to look at, and the performances were great. The characters were very lovable. And Carry was awesome in it.

So yeah, Im looking forward to it! Hope it happens!

Not so sure about this

I read books 1 through at least 11. The first film covered 1 through 3 but the adaptation KILLED it (way too many changes, changed the chronology of many events).

The film wasn't all that memorable in the first place and that's coming from a former fan of the series. At this rate, to tell the entire 13-book series, they'd need to make 3 more movies.

Do audiences really want that and would Jim Carrey be down? Not only that, Emily Browning and Liam Aiken are getting older.

I really like Brad Silberling. I admire a director that can make various movies
(Casper, Moonlight Mile, Lemony Snicket's, City of Angels, 10 Items or Less) and change his palette around to suit each movie. As opposed to Tim Burton who just has one style and applies it to every project.
