Strike Back below!
by: Paul Tassi Nov. 4, 2009

I really hope that the poster department's work ethic over at LET ME IN isn't indicative of the effort being directed toward the film as a whole. Here's what I think the thought process was behind the creation of this latest promo poster.

Marketing guy: Hey, so bad news. The movie’s now in New Mexico, not Colorado, so your other poster doesn’t work anymore.

Poster guy: What? Aw come on. That took a solid half an hour!

Marketing guy: Yeah, I know. But we need something new for the Twitter page. What can you do?

Poster guy: Give me ten minutes and one of the original LET THE RIGHT ONE IN posters.

Marketing guy: That’s the spirit!

I officially don't give a fuck about this. I bet the actual remake will get the same treatment as this poster. Nice article.

I'm giving this a hip rating for the article.

I'm not sold on the remake yet though.

desert setting, if photographed correctly, is the best thing this movie has going for it. but how is the director of cloverfield gonna match the asthetics of the original?

poster = yawn
yeah, poster is definitely lazy. Hopefully the movie itself will rise above it.

The move to New Mexico also seems lazy, but as long as they capture the desolation that the original exuded it could still work.

eh. I can't shake my negative attitude towards this project. The poster isn't as effective as the one it's copying.

Stop Hating!
I don't know, maybe it's just that it's not a remake of an American film that keeps me from getting too upset... the original was great... the book however, was so much better and from what I understand the remake it going to explore more of the history and relationship of Eli and Hakan... I don't know... I'm loking forward to it... with Matt Reeves at the helm (I assume J.J. Abrams has...

It won't be the original, but then again it won't be Blade either... I'm open minded.

agreed. "let the right one in" has a much more ominous tone to it. "let me in" just sounds like a lazy title for the dullest porn movie ever made. as for the poster...s'ok i guess.

"Let the Right One In" has a much nicer ring to it than "Let Me In".

Such a strange pointless title change.

Pretty good teaser poster
This remake is NOT pointless. It's point, is to make money, which it probably will.

I won't give 'em credit for the part that was taken from the original movie poster. But as far as posters go, I think we're being a bit harsh, since this IS kinda different from most. But it immediately reminds me of "Malcolm X" which I don't know if that's a good thing or not.

Let The Right One In was an ok movie, but it was no incredible masterpiece or something. Sometimes remaking a popular foreign film works (The Ring) so you never know, it could be good. Also, why is it surprising/upsetting that this poster is so much like one for the original movie? It is a REMAKE of that movie...hence very similar...hence similar artwork makes sense.

i dont give a fuck about location as long as there is snow... so if your trying to say that hollywood isn't going to somehow create snow in new mexico, then there is room to panic, cuz wtf? let the right one in would be nothing without the cold snow/winter aspect, nowudumsayin? so basically im a little confused and upset by the simplicity of this poster, especially since they havent even filmed...
