Let Me In posters

Jul. 14, 2009by: Mike Sampson

The Hollywood remake of LET THE RIGHT ONE IN directed by Matt Reeves (CLOVERFIELD) hasn't even begun casting yet, let alone filming, but there are already some early posters for the film online. These aren't anything that will ever be hanging in your local theater lobby but used by the production company to generate some interest in the film with distribution companies. There are three such posters online at Slashfilm and I've included an example below. They're actually not bad looking but it's going to take a lot more than three early posters to convince fans of LET THE RIGHT ONE IN that an American remake is a good idea. Click the poster below to see the rest of the art at Slashfilm.

Clearly Americans can't read subtitles. I hope this remake doesn't go anywhere.

Ah, Hollywood does it again. Lets ruin a perfectly good movie! Let us pray it is one of those time where both movies prove to be good. Not likely.

I usually don't care about stuff being remade, but this is really, REALLY unnecessary.

READ THE BOOK

I actually DID read the book. And this was one of my favourite books of this genre. And I was really disappointed by the first movie. Because unlike the book it was really lame, no suspense and everything happend so sloooooowly. I think the book has A LOT more potential. So I hope they get this one right. But the Poster already looks a lot better.

Interesting to see it's being released under the Hammer banner. Not sure how much that works in a film's favour these days, though the film's subject certainly complements their cinematic heritage. Not sure a remake is necessary though. Your horror fans these days are mostly tolerant of subtitles anyway, due to so many essential horror movies originating in non English speaking countries over the past few decades. Bad dubbing and US remakes are increasingly irrelevant.

Well...

I would normally be all "blah blah remake blah blah peas and carrots" like I usually am, but I love Infernal Affairs and I just had to finally admit to myself that The Departed is actually better. So since then I decided to keep an open mind on these things...

I love how they make the "This is a remake!" portion of the poster barely readable.

I recently watched the original a couple of weeks ago and while it had some great visuals and a good story, I didn't think it was the bee's knees. Most people tend to talk about it as if it is the best, most original vampire movie ever made. I thought it was slow and even a little boring. I'm looking forward to this adaptation. I am hoping that Matt Reeves doesn't do it in Cloverfield fashion though (there's no indication that he will yet).

You have heard about the sub-subpar subtitles on the dvd, right? I think that weakened the movie for most people who didn't get a chance to see it in all its glory in theaters.

I did read that online before I saw the movie, but either way, I still wasn't impressed. I keep hearing that the book is great. Might give it a read before this comes out.
