Let's take a look at the first photos from The Maze Runner: Scorch Trials

The onslaught of YA film adaptations just keeps trucking onwards. Youths. Dystopia. Mystery. Romance. Rinse and repeat.

Last year saw the release of THE MAZE RUNNER, a film based upon a series of YA novels by James Dashner. It was fairly successful at the box office and actually received mixed to positive reviews, but let’s be honest, even if everyone hated it we’d be getting a sequel anyway; these films are so cheap to make that they can't possibly lose money. The sequel, THE MAZE RUNNER: SCORCH TRIALS, completed filming just over a month ago and we’re starting to get our first images from the film.

You might remember that THE MAZE RUNNER star Dylan O’Brien was one of the names rumoured to be attached to the role of Spider-Man for the upcoming reboot, but I imagine he’ll be kept busy with this series for the next few years. Not being overly familiar with where the franchise goes following the first movie, I can't comment on what we're seeing here other than it looks like our heroes have gotten themselves into a bit of a pickle. Swell buffet table though so...there's that?

THE MAZE RUNNER: SCORCH TRIALS will be arriving in theaters September 18, 2015, almost a year to the day after the release of the first. The turnaround on these movies are insane.

Those of you who have seen the first film, what say you: Is it a HUNGER GAMES or a TWILIGHT?

Maze Runner Interested Me

I just watched the Maze Runner over the weekend. It kept me quite interested. I enjoy a good labyrinth tale, even if they didn't spend much time inside it during the film. I haven't watched any of the YA films except for this. They seem to center on love stories for the most part, so I'm not interested in watching two teens fighting for love. However, the Maze Runner didn't mess around with all that. Yes, a girl is introduced to in the film, who has some connection to the main guy, but they

Yes, a girl is introduced to in the film, who has some connection to the main guy, but they didn't get into all the love crap...just alluded to it. Hopefully, the next film won't stray into that Twilight territory either.
If I had any complaints with it, it was the ending "reasoning" behind the maze was absolutely ridiculous. Made no sense in any way, shape or form. I've owned the book since it first came out (maybe 8 years ago?), but never sat down to read it. Think I finally will now, to see if it expands on the limited reasoning from the movie.

rented the Maze Runner on a whim through REDBOX and found it likeable (knowing next to nothing about it)
its not one that i'd go to the theaters to watch, but I'd rent it later.

Whatever happened to young adults reading things like The Lord Of The Rings, The Catcher in The Rye, Animal Farm, or even Treasure Island?

Oh, I'm not complaining... I was just showing how clearly out of touch I am with what young adults are into these days.

In the YA genre, I actually liked this best...a tad more than Hunger Games even. Divergent blew...I fell asleep 3 times trying to watch that...just didn't appeal to me...

I found the first film pretty good. Not as good as Hunger Games, but still very entertaining. Hoping the second film is as good or even better.

Dylan only has one film left.

Dylan's character only features in three books, meaning since the second one finished filming, there's only one left.

They'll probably split the third book into two parts.
