Liam Hemsworth gets in the middle of a feud between Gary Oldman and Harrison Ford in the trailer for Paranoia

Jun. 5, 2013by: Niki Stephens

Before I started this I was tempted to say, "Gary Oldman versus Harrison Ford. I'll just leave this here." However, this isn't the first time that the two have been at each other's throats. May I remind you of AIR FORCE ONE?

But of course, you need to know who directed it, what it's about, and all that jazz. The trailer for PARANOIA directed by Robert Luketic stars Oldman, Ford, Liam Hemsworth, Josh Holloway, Richard Dreyfuss, Julian McMahon, and Amber Heard. Luketic has directed some not so stellar movies, THE UGLY TRUTH, KILLERS, 21 (I don't think you need anymore) but this actually looks good. I think this guy really wants to redeem himself. Hemsworth is used by Oldman to spy on his business rival played by Ford. Being the middle man is never a job that pans out with a happy ending so Hemsworth must devise his own plan to set himself free. Gary Oldman owns you. Good f*cking luck.

Synopsis: An entry-level employee at a powerful corporation finds himself occupying a corner office, but at a dangerous price: he must spy on his boss's old mentor to secure for him a multi-billion dollar advantage.

trailer shows most of the movie

the trailer just showed the majority of the movie. only thing i would be interested in is 1) what is the thing that Harrison Ford is talking about and 2) Is Liam playing both characters the entire time ala Lucky Number Slevin?

I wish I read this comment before seeing the trailer. Now I won't see the movie until it drops on HBO so I ensure myself of forgetting what I just saw.

Dead on arrival

Well I'm definitely not paying for this movie now after seeing the 3 minute version for free.

Harrison Ford and Gary Oldman are two of my favourite actors - two of everybody's favourite actors, really. Air Force One is also really near the top of my list of favourite films. I hope Robert Luketic's "rom-com aesthetic" doesn't hurt the film too much. I do like Ford snarling "and now I'm standing on your neck". Definitely worth a look, but might have benefited from a different director.

I feel like if a computer program could write a movie plot it would come out like this. It looks moderately entertaining enough, but I feel like it's just a mix of a bunch of movies I've seen before. With that said, it has Harrison Ford and Gary Oldman, sooooo I'll probably see it anyway.

I don't like Robert Luketic, I mean the man made Killers the movie that almost sunk Lionsgate, but this movie looks enticing. A fun thriller. Color me interested.

I'm looking forward

To really crusty, really old, really crotchety Han Solo in the next Star Wars films. Preferably with this haircut, and possibly his "crazy-guy" beard.

This trailer looks okay, except for the part at the end where they telegraph the third act double-cross.

Lovely to hear Gary Oldman finally sporting a British accent again, but seeing Harrison Ford bald is gonna take some time getting used to.

With a cast like this I just don't get why not a single producer just got a talented (new) writer to give the script a fresh boost and then refrain from hiring somebody like Luketic who has proven over and over that he is not a competent movie director.

awesome cast aside, this looks terrible. generic rehash of a lot of better movies with heavy handed drama (the poor, sick dad) shake and bake characters (son with the heart of gold) and template plot (bad guy sucks me in then forces me to go further until i turn the tables whlile winning, then losing, then winning back the girl)

On one hand, I am glad for this trailer. Iamtheminn and lennyd43 state the truth. This trailer answers any questions that one might have about Paranoia's plot. Therefore, there are no questions to draw a ticketbuyer into the showhouse. Also, this trailer reveals that Paranoia is perhaps aimed at a younger demographic. Whoever composed this trailer just saved me money.

On the other hand, I would have seen this film. I would have enjoyed its twists. I would have enjoyed speculating about its plot before seeing Paranoia. Hell, I would have liked supporting the producers financially. However, a person now does not have to. And, that avoidable situation is stupid.
Also, experiencing literature is one of life's simple joys, but SPOILERS fuck that experience up.
