Liam Neeson plans to stop making action movies in two years

03.11.2015

In 2008, Liam Neeson entered a renaissance in his career when he starred in the hit TAKEN. Since then, Neeson has spent seven years making variations of that movie with differing levels of success. Whatever the film, Neeson has established himself as a dramatic actor, a romantic lead, a comedic presence, and now an action hero. But, already in his early sixties, Neeson knows it cannot last forever.

In an interview as reported by The Guardian, Neeson has a definite idea when his tenure kicking ass will come to an end.

“Maybe two more years. If God spares me and I’m healthy,” he said in a US interview. “But after that, I’ll stop [the action] I think.”

Neeson's latest film, RUN ALL NIGHT, comes on the heels of the final entry in the TAKEN trilogy. After these movies, he will appear in Seth MacFarlane's TED 2 and the ENTOURAGE movie. That brings his 2015 tally to four films. He will then shift to the dramatic fare he became famous for as he continues to film Martin Scorese's SILENCE. With the two year clock running, Neeson will be approaching the age of sixty-five. Having his face thrust to the forefront of action films means that Neeson can now relax a bit and make the movies he really wants to. So, while the frequency of seeing him on screen may diminish, the quality will remain high.

RUN ALL NIGHT opens this Friday.
