Liam Neeson won't be taken easily in this international spot for Taken 2

Jul. 6, 2012by: Paul Shirey

Liam Neeson is back at it again as Bryan Mills, the man "with a particular set of skills" only this time he's bringing the whole family in TAKEN 2, the sequel to the 2008 hit film. This time Neeson is vacationing in Istanbul when he is ambushed by Albanian mobsters out for revenge for all the men he killed in the first film, even though those same mobsters started the whole damn thing by kidnapping his daughter. Revenge...such a tricky business. Now, we have a second international teaser that outlines the basic plot and features the usual bout of gunshots, bone breaks, and explosions that you would expect.

Listen very carefully:

I didn't expect to love TAKEN. I didn't even expect to like it. However, like many fans of the film, I was beyond surprised at how bad ass it was (especially the director's cut) and am fully onboard for a sequel, even as silly as it may be. I mean, why the hell would these Albanian mobsters kidnap Neeson and his estranged wife? Why not just, y'know, kill them on the spot while they have the drop? Someone needs to explain the concept of revenge to these guys.

Anyway, action movie cliches aside, I'm digging this. It just looks like a hell of a good action romp and I'll gladly go along for the ride.

TAKEN 2 starts f*ckin' shit up on October 5, 2012.

Extra Tidbit: Can we fake a birth certificate and get Neeson to run for President later this year?

I like how they are bringing the daughter into this more. Adds a new twist to it. Then again, she could be the problem.

The domestic trailer annoyed me with the "taken" line, but here, including himself in the sentence, it feels less like a retread of the first for him to say that. So in summation, a better trailer than the first one.

Are they not kidnapping them to bring to Rade Serbedzija's character, who I believe is their boss?

Destination recap

Who 'vacations' in Istanbul? Neeson on holiday in Turkey is like Hemingway having a 'jolly' in darkest Africa. He's going to kill everything that moves.

Have you ever, even just in pictures, seen how fucking gorgeous Istanbul is?

You're so fucking ignorant it's beyond words.

Other than the exaggeration of the first line there is validity in that statement based on how aware Neeson's character in these movies is to the dangers different parts of the world present. Istanbul has an established record of being a potentially dangerous place for foreign female vistors especially. It's also quite close to Albania where the bad guys originate from so all around a rather odd vacationing spot for them considering again Neeson already suspecting and cautious nature that one

"Who 'vacations' in Istanbul?" ... I never call people out, but that has honestly got to be the most ignorant statement I have read in a long time. Enjoy your Indiana Jones ride at Disneyland.
