Ghost in the Shell Rupert Sanders Scarlett Johannson

I knew the title "GHOST IN THE SHELL" before it was announced that Rupert Sanders would be directing a live action adaptation of the Japanese manga, but the title is all I knew about this property. Now that trailers and TV spots are being released for Sanders' take on GHOST IN THE SHELL in the build-up to the film's March 31st release, I'm learning about it bit by bit – and the more I see, the more I become interested in this film. It's not quite something that I feel the need to rush out and see right away, but I'm intrigued.

The latest trailer for the film can be seen below, and it gives the most information any of the marketing material has given yet. In fact, Matt Rooney over in the JoBlo Movie News section of the network feels that this trailer gives away too much. I don't know the story, I couldn't say, but this trailer's revelations work for me, they draw me in more, because I have been wanting to know more details.

Scripted by Jonathan Herman and Jamie Moss, GHOST IN THE SHELL stars Scarlett Johannson as Major,

a special ops, one-of-a-kind human-cyborg hybrid, who leads the elite task force Section 9. Devoted to stopping the most dangerous criminals and extremists, Section 9 is faced with an enemy whose singular goal is to wipe out Hanka Robotic’s advancements in cyber technology.

Johannson's co-stars include Rila Fukushima, Michael Pitt, Pilou Asbæk, Michael Wincott, Juliette Binoche, Beat Takeshi, Kaori Momoi, Chin Han, Danusia Samal, Lasarus Ratuere, Yutaka Izumihara, and Tuwanda Manyimo.

If your reaction to previous marketing materials has been "Sure, it looks cool, but what the hell is going on?", give this trailer a look, but beware of spoilers.
