Lily Collins set to star as Snow White alongside Julia Roberts as the Evil Queen

In the battle of the Snow White movies, Relativity’s SNOW WHITE seems to be getting the upper-hand as they’ve found an actress to play their title character while last week the competing project, Universal’s SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN, lost a star in Viggo Mortensen. Relativity has signed Lily Collins (THE BLIND SIDE) to star as Snow White alongside Julia Roberts as The Evil Queen and Armie Hammer as Prince Andrew.

While you may recognize Collins from that Sandra Bullock movie, she’s perhaps best known as being the daughter of easy listening staple Phil Collins. The young actress was actually studying journalism at USC (she had previously written columns for Seventeen, Teen Vogue and the LA Times) before realizing what a silly job choice that was and made her acting debut in two 2009 episodes of “90210.”

Whether Collins helps Relativity’s SNOW WHITE beat the rival project to the punch remains to be seen. The studio and director Tarsem Singh are aiming for a May start and a June 29, 2012 release date (a good six months ahead of the December, 2012 release for the Kristen Stewart/Charlize Theron project at Universal).

Do you think we’ll actually get two SNOW WHITE films in 2012 or will one of them eventually bow out? Which would you rather see?
