Lindsay Lohan playing porn star Linda Lovelace in Inferno

There have been a flurry of rumors the past few days that Lindsay Lohan would be playing ’70s porn star Linda Lovelace in a new film. There are also rumors that Lindsay Lohan once snorted coke off of Paris Hilton’s ass on video, so understandably, rumors concerning the girl need some clarification.

But as it turns out the first one is true (the second one is still just classified as “likely”). The LA Times called the producers of INFERNO who confirmed Lindsay’s presence as Lovelace in the movie.

“We’ve all thought that Lindsay would be a great choice for a while now, and we’re all convinced that she is going to do it,” Razaqi said. “For at least a year, the director [Matthew Wilder] and I have gone back and forth imagining how awesome of a performance she could give if she was in the movie.”

If you would have asked me five years ago if Lindsay Lohan had the potential to give an “awesome performance,” I would have said, “Sure, why not?” Today? They’ll be lucky if she shows up to the set at all, if her last few projects are any indication of her work ethic.

The producers seem to think that since her life mirrors the emotionally battered life of Lovelace, that she’ll be able to do a good job, but that’s kind of like casting Jeffrey Dahmer to play Hannibal Lecter and expecting him to give a convincing performance rather than murder everyone on set.

Does Lindsay have another good film in her, or as the poster child of Hollywood’s power to destroy people, is she beyond redemption? Err, I’m sorry, I think the real question we should be asking here is, WILL SHE BE GETTING NAKED?
