Listen to a track from Spider-Man: Homecoming score by Michael Giacchino

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Forget the fancy spandex, super strength or unflinching heroic spirit. The only thing Spider-Man needs to be true hero is a grand, inspiring superhero score he can swing in to save the day to. If he was going to swing onto the scene to silence, what’s even the point? Michael Giacchino will be scoring the wall-crawler for SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING (taking the reins from Danny Elfman and James Horner, who worked on previous films) and today EW dropped one of the first tracks for people to listen to – "Spider-Man Homecoming Suite" – as well as the full tracklist.

Have a listen below!

The track list has some references to Iron Man/Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and the movie's villain, Vulture (Michael Keaton), but more importantly it gives us an idea of the movie’s plot points and how it's blocked out. Because of this I’m attaching a SPOILER WARNING now, just in case there are any of you who want to go in 100% fresh, having no idea where the movie is going. However, you should leave the whole "going in blind thing" thing for Daredevil! I'll be here all week, and be sure to try the shrimp bar it's…okay.

As for the score itself this is the track that will be playing at the end of the movie during the credits (the same was done when they released the first track for DOCTOR STRANGE), and needless to say it’s easy to see (or hear, rather!) why he’s one of the most sought after composers in the biz. Giacchino begins “Suite” with a heroic into before seamlessly moving between whimsical, menacing, dramatic and back to heroic again. Of course the rest of the score needs to be heard before a full analysis can be made, but as they say, so far so good. I dip my fancy symphony hat in approval in Mr. Giacchino’s general direction.
