Listen to a track from Trent Reznor's Dragon Tattoo score

As a former (rather angsty) Nine Inch Nails fan, it was rather cool to see Trent Reznor win an Oscar for his SOCIAL NETWORK soundtrack last year, and now the man is reteaming with David Fincher once more to set the mood for THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO.
Sony has released a new track from the album which you can listen to below if it suits you. It's far less intense than the track that accompanied the first trailer, and is probably best described as "atmospheric." You can definitely tell it's Reznor though (along with Atticus Ross), as he definitely has crafted a signature style.

Also for those who don't like it as much - something to remember is that this is a film score first and foremost. Its primary purpose is NOT to be listened to on its own but to serve the film first and foremost by creating the appropriate tone to fit the sequence - and this sounds to me like it'd be a very effective mood setter for whatever sequence that may be. As a fan of film scores, I think the heavily melodic scores are great to listen to on their own - and great for certain bombastic genres of movies (big adventure films, bold kind of popcorn fare, sweeping romantic dramas, etc) but not so great for other types (dark, atmospheric horror films, thrillers, low-key indie dramas, etc). In many of those cases - and many others, it's a case-by-case basis - I prefer the scores to be more minimalist to suit the tone of those films and to not overpower them. I mean, John Williams is great and all but could you imagine him scoring Social Network? The Wrestler? A Lynch film? Wouldn't have fit at all. It would be more distracting than anything.
Trent Reznor knows what he's doing with his scoring. The score for Social Network served that film extraordinarily well (and as a bonus, was pretty solid on its own) and I have no doubt this will be the same case.
don't get why people like this or the TSN score
