Listen to Zack Snyder's commentary on the fight between Superman and Faora in Man of Steel

Jun. 17, 2013by: Paul Shirey

For those still reeling from the epic beat downs in MAN OF STEEL, today we have a clip (from The New York Times) from the film with commentary by director Zack Snyder, highlighting the initial attack on Smallville and the meeting of fists between Superman (Henry Cavill) and Faora (Antje Traue). Snyder gives some insight into how the sequences were pieced together on the technical front and dives into the actual fight between the two Kryptonians and explains the dynamic of the experienced "warrior" vs. the wet-behind-the-ears superhero.

Check it out:

Pretty cool stuff. I haven't heard a Zack Snyder commentary before, mostly because I just haven't had to time to listen to one, but I like that he gives a balance of technical and story notes. Granted it's just a short clip, but it definitely sounds like he's got info to share. Fingers crossed for a blu-ray track.

MAN OF STEEL is currently in theaters.

Extra Tidbit: Anyone else have a mad crush on Antje Traue after Man of Steel? Wow.

I thought she was more menacing than Zod. Her eyes and that glare she has, especially when she put the mask over her mouth, it was intense.

We never did see Faora die. Bring her back for the sequel.

For some reason, this was my favorite set piece from the film, even more so than the final fight.

Extra tidbit: To be honest, I've had a crush on her since "Pandorum" with her kicking all sorts of ass, sweat glistening on her skin, and that cleavage, etc. Yeah, TMI.

Probably the most excitement anyone has had at an IHOP! I'm with studboi69, I preferred the Smallville battle to the final fight in Metropolis. And the more I think about it, the more Antje Traue seems like the breakout star of this one over Michael Shannon (even though I did like him as Zod).

Something that's bothering me...

I enjoy this movie alot for the action. the action was epic. the story it's self was decent, it could of have been way better. But something that is bothering me. The ending fight scene when Metropolis gets ruined, and there is nothing left, then they show the daily planet at the end and everything looks fine, no signs of a ruin city, no talk of a ruin city. That to me seems like a huge fuckin plot hole. I know I'm prob just over thinking it and I never really care all that much but still LOL.

considering the paper was up and running and everyone was just going about their business, i just assumed many months had gone by. i got the feeling that the time from after the last battle to the drone scene, to the Planet was a long time.

I felt the same. It basically felt like an empty city.

Explain how Superman is not putting innocent people in harm's way.

How about he explains how Superman put innocent bystanders in harm's way and why it looked like he just accidentally killed a couple dozen people when crashing through crowded buildings?

Hasn't even been out a week & the complaints are already becoming tiresome.

As the only interesting character in that movie, I really hope she makes a return for the inevitable sequel. Otherwise, I don't think I'll have any reason to go see it.

fed up with

all the bitching by the kids who clearly love the childish marvel films.
where was all the questions about collateral damage after the avengers?

if anyone heard has read the more modern superman comics or even saw some of the dc animated movies they would see the exact same thing.

this was a great summer blockbuster, by far the best of the summer. it struck the perfect balance of comedy and action and drama.

Yeah, they certainly lucked out getting Antje Traue to play Faora. To me, she stole the show. She was the only one of the Kryptonians who looked truly alien and menacing. Even standing next to Nam-ek, she had more presence.
