2017 Paramount Pictures Preview

Paramount Pictures still remains a vital studio in Hollywood. Pulling just under 8% of the 2016 box office, Paramount was helped to $876 million in grosses thanks to the performances of films STAR TREK BEYOND and awards contender ARRIVAL. In the coming year, Paramount will try their hand at horror, comedy, action, and some new potential franchises in BAYWATCH and GHOST IN THE SHELL along with new entries in the FRIDAY THE 13TH and TRANSFORMERS series.

DOWNSIZING (December 22nd)

A man and his wife who, deciding that their lives have gotten out of hand, decide to voluntarily have themselves shrunk down. Unfortunately for the man, his wife backs out at the last minute.

Starring Matt Damon, Kristen Wiig, Christoph Waltz, Alec Baldwin, Neil Patrick Harris, and Jason Sudeikis. Written by Alexander Payne and Jim Taylor. Directed by Alexander Payne.

GOD PARTICLE/CLOVERFIELD 3 (October 27th)

Third film in the CLOVERFIELD anthology franchise. A team of astronauts aboard a space station find themselves alone after a scientific experiment causes Earth to disappear. When a space shuttle appears, the space station crew must fight for survival following their horrible discovery.

Starring Daniel Brühl, Elizabeth Debicki, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Chris O’Dowd, Zhang Ziyi, David Oyelowo, Aksel Hennie and John Ortiz. Written by Doug Jung and Oren Uziel. Directed by Julius Onah.

FRIDAY THE 13TH (October 13th)

A reboot of the classic slasher franchise that goes back to tell the story of Jason Voorhees and his mother before the events of the 1980 film.

Written by Nick Antosca and Aaron Guzikowski. Directed by Breck Eisner (THE LAST WITCH HUNTER).

TRANSFORMERS: THE LAST KNIGHT (June 23rd)

Optimus Prime finds his home planet, Cybertron, now a dead planet, in which he comes to find he was responsible for killing. He finds a way to bring the planet back to life, but in order to do so, he needs to find an artifact, which is on Earth.

Starring Mark Wahlberg, Anthony Hopkins, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, John Turturro, Stanley Tucci, Isabela Moner and Laura Haddock. Written by Art Marcum and Matt Holloway. Directed by Michael Bay.

BAYWATCH (May 26th)

Two unlikely prospective lifeguards vie for jobs alongside the buff bodies who patrol a beach in California.

Starring Dwayne Johnson, Zac Efron, Alexandra Daddario, Kelly Rohrbach, Priyanka Chopra, Jon Bass, Ilfenesh Hadera, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson. Written by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift. Directed by Seth Gordon (PIXELS).

GHOST IN THE SHELL (March 31st)

Cyborg counter-cyberterrorist field commander The Major (Scarlett Johansson), and her task force Section 9 thwart cyber criminals and hackers. Now, they must face a new enemy who will stop at nothing to sabotage Hanka Robotic’s artificial intelligence technology.

Starring Scarlett Johansson, Pilou Asbæk, Takeshi Kitano, Juliette Binoche and Michael Pitt. Written by Jonathan Herman and Jamie Moss. Directed by Rupert Sanders (SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN).

RINGS (February 3rd)

Set 13 years after THE RING, Julia becomes worried about her boyfriend, Holt when he explores the dark urban legend of a mysterious video said to kill the watcher seven days after viewing. She sacrifices herself to save her boyfriend and in doing so makes a horrifying discovery: there is a “movie within the movie” that no one has ever seen before.

XXX: THE RETURN OF XANDER CAGE (Now Playing)

Extreme athlete turned government operative Xander Cage, thought to be long dead, comes out of self-imposed exile as recruited by the CIA to race villain Xiang to recover a powerful weapon known as “Pandora’s Box” which can control military satellites which could cause catastrophic damage. Recruiting a group of thrill-seeking cohorts (a sharpshooter and a hacker), Xander finds himself caught up in a deadly conspiracy of corruption among world governments including insiders in his own country’s government.

A mild-mannered father is transformed into a killing machine after his family is torn apart by a violent act.

UNTITLED DARREN ARONOFSKY PROJECT (TBD)

Centers on a couple whose relationship is tested when uninvited guests arrive at their home, disrupting their tranquil existence.

Starring Jennifer Lawrence, Domhnall Gleeson and Michelle Pfieffer. Written and directed by Darren Aronofsky.
