The Ten Spot: 10 Awful Re-Imagined Movie Characters

I don't hate remakes. There's plenty of decent ones to go around. I do hate the phrase "re-imagining". There's just some sort of smug undertone to it that says "I have a better way of telling someone else's story". Look, if you have such a unique vision on things go make your own fucking movie. Screwing up memorable characters is the worst part of the whole process. which is why we're here. I stuck strictly to movie-to-movie roles. Breaking down television characters brought to the big screen is a whole different battle.

What about Buzz?

So, the character 're-imagined' in the image for this post is a humanized Buzz Lightyear. Which led me to believe that this would be a 'What If?' kind of blog post. For example, What if they did a live action Buzz Lightyear film, wouldn't that be awful? That would be an interesting post, this is something else. This is a loosely tied list of annoying characters, some of which are re-imagined, some of which are just poor characters. What happened to the human Buzz Lightyear that made me

CGI Yoda All The Way

That puppet does not look good anymore. Time was not on that puppets side. Sorry nostalgia buffs but you can't keep defending shit for the sake of defending it. I look at old movies or TV shows and sometimes they hold up but sometimes they don't. While the STAR WARS movies still hold up, sadly not the puppetry that was used at the time. That whole Cantina scene looks like a fucking episode of sesame street. Lucas is constantly getting bashed for improving upon his art and thats just sad.

Great List, but my No.1 pick would be Anakin Skywalder of the Stars Wars prequels. You´ve come a long way from the creepy, cool and mostrous badass villain to him being a whiny, annoying little kid and an arrogant, boring Emo-jerk in part 1-3.

Good call. I toyed with using this one but, in the end, I guess I just considered them 2 separate characters.
