Top 10 Questions We Have After Seeing the Star Wars: The Last Jedi Teaser

Last week saw the debut of the first teaser for STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI. Much like the first footage of THE FORCE AWAKENS, this teaser has led to many more questions than answers. Fans around the world are now smacking their lips in anticipation for Rian Johnson's film and theorizing wildly about what this two minutes of footage will actually mean. Here is our ranking of the ten biggest questions we have coming out of THE LAST JEDI teaser. if you have theories or want to share the questions we didn't ask, feel free to add them in the talk backs below.

#10 - Will there be an opening crawl?

With the teaser promising action on Ach-To and picking up directly where THE FORCE AWAKENS left off, how can there possibly be an opening crawl? In all prior STAR WARS films, there has been a time lapse between episodes. ith Rian Johnson setting this film immediately after J.J. Abrams' film, what does that mean for the trademark start to all previous films in the main saga?

#9 - Where is Snoke?

In the first teaser for THE FORCE AWAKENS, we heard the deep and mysterious voice of Supreme Leader Snoke heralding a shift in the dynamic of The Force. In the opposite, THE LAST JEDI teaser has Luke and Rey discussing balance. But, despite fleeting glimpses of Captain Phasma and Kylo Ren, we see no villains in this trailer which begs the question of how much of a presence Snoke will actually have. We have been promised a more direct view of the Dark leader but just how true will that be?

#8 - What is happening on Crait?

One of the coolest moments in THE LAST JEDI trailer is the look at the new fleet of ships skimming across the surface of a planet covered in red sand. It was revealed this is the planet Crait and was once a Resistance stronghold. What exactly these ships are remains to be seen, but you can see them heading directly for what looks to be a troop of AT-AT walkers, so I would make the safe bet that these are allies of the Resistance.

#7 - Are we getting more flashbacks?

The scene above clearly looks to be a different angle to the moment in Rey's vision where she saw Kylo Ren and his fellow Knights of Ren massacre Luke's new Jedi students. Whether this will be in another vision or if Luke will recount his experience to Rey is unknown but learning more about why Luke went into seclusion is one of the biggest questions I had coming out of THE FORCE AWAKENS.

#6 - Where are the new characters?

It was not until the second trailer for THE FORCE AWAKENS that we saw the return of Han Solo so it somewhat surprising that we don't see a single new face in the teaser for THE LAST JEDI. We see Rey, Finn, Poe, BB-8, Kylo Ren and parts of Luke and Leia, but no one else. Where are the new characters played by Benicio Del Toro and Laura Dern? In typical fashion, this teaser seems to be only showing scenes from the early portion of THE LAST JEDI, but I want to see who else is coming to a galaxy far, far away.

#5 - What will Leia's fate be?

Carrie Fisher's untimely death forced Lucasfilm to rethink how Princess Leia would figure into the unfilmed EPISODE IX. But, Fisher is front and center (at least from behind) in the LAST JEDI teaser. Will her fate be explained by the end of the film? How will her significant role play into the narrative of this movie?

#4 - What happened to Kylo Ren's helmet?

Two significant frames populate this teaser in regards to the villain formerly named Ben Solo. First, we see his demolished helmet on the ground. In another, we see him wielding his red lightsaber with his new scar easily visible down his cheek. The question is why Kylo Ren has decided to shirk the mask he wore in honor of Darth Vader and if that has any significance for the story of THE LAST JEDI.

#3 - What will Finn's role be?

I don't doubt for a second that John Boyega will have more to do in Episode VIII than just lie in a coma, but the teaser does not give our favorite First Order traitor much else to do. Eagle-eyed STAR WARS fans have decoded the language on Finn's bed that says he is in stable condition, but what will his injuries mean for his role in the Resistance and the saga to come?

#2 - Does this symbol represent The Grey?

The most discussed element of THE LAST JEDI teaser has to do with Luke's final words (more on that in a moment) which seems to be centered on this image. On a cursory glance, it looks like the symbol of the Jedi Order, but STAR WARS lore has long referenced a third chapter of Force followers who believe that you must accept both the Dark and Light sides of the Force. Known as The Grey, this sect could mean a massive change in what we commonly have viewed as a Sith versus Jedi battle. The true question is if that is a concept we are going to see on the big screen.

#1 - Why must the Jedi come to an end?

From the title of the film to Luke's foreboding words, it sounds like the Jedi as we know it will soon be no more. The real question we need answered is why. Mark Hamill has been quoted as saying he was originally against the direction Rian Johnson was taking Luke Skywalker and we need to find out why that is. Does Luke begin dabbling in the Dark Side? Did he run-in with Kylo Ren signal the end of days for the Jedi? What has Luke learned about the purpose of The Force in his time in seclusion? So many questions and only eight more months until we find out answers!

I'm sure they just cut Luke's sentence in the trailer. He's probably just saying "It's time for the Jedi to end his nap" or something like that.

As soon as I saw the trailer I got excited simply because all signs point to Gray Jedi, Dark Jedi, The Grey whatever you want to word. Basically I think we'll see a massive deviation in the rule of two and the Jedi vs Sith stories we've seen for the last 4 decades. Jesus I'm old Star Wars came out 40 years ago good grief lol. Its refreshing that we'll finally (hopefully), see something different on the big screen. The Expanded Universe (Legends) was ripe with these sort of stories. I'm glad

I'm glad Disney is seeing the value in what has come before it had ownership and is starting to open up to using the expanded universe characters (Thrawn in Rebels) and ideas.

My personal fan theory answers (based on multiple articles and other theories I've read) are:
10. Yes, there will be a crawl (like a "previously on..." intro for tv series episode or preparing us for the things that follow).
9. Yeah I think Snoke will have a major role in this movie. Besides, there are rumors that Laura Dern's character is in command of a powerful republic fleet that will face Snoke's personal armada.
8. This new planet, according to rumors, is rich in some kind of mineral

9. Yeah I think Snoke will have a major role in this movie. Besides, there are rumors that Laura Dern's character is in command of a powerful republic fleet that will face Snoke's personal armada.
8. This new planet, according to rumors, is rich in some kind of mineral which is important for both the Resistance and the First Order. Like Oppy said, maybe it's that sand that becomes red when disturbed.
7. There are rumours that Rey's parents were briefly shown in Rey's flashback. That they were present the day Kylo Ren slaughtered Luke's students and burnt the school to the ground. So perhaps Rey sees that vision again but this time, but this time it will be fully revealed to us/her.
6. Hiding from the teaser. No need to spoil everything from the first teaser.
5.I hope Leia gets an epic ending. She deserves one!
4.Kylo Ren was wearing his helmet because he wanted to looke like his grandfather and cause fear to his opponents. I don't care if a helmet has any practical use or not. As long as it makes someone cool, I am in! But now, Kylo Ren evolves into something greater, closer to his true potential. So he doesn't need that helmet. What "bothers" me a little, is the fact that they seem to have changed his scar. Johnson said he did it deliberately because the scar from Force Awakens wasn't that cool.... Meh.
3. Infiltrate the First Order, get caught and make Rey go after them to save him.
1 & 2. I think the will indeed implement the Grey Jedi. Both the Jedi and the Sith are "abominations". They represent dogmatical views of something greater than them. So yeah. The Grey must replace them. I mean, the Sith are no more and were replaced by the Knights of Ren and Snoke. Now the Jedi must end so they evolve into something greater.

Here are my fan theory answers:
10. Yes, there will be a crawl. They can talk about whatever the resistance and first order are up to after the destruction of Starkiller base, and then pick up with Rey and Luke meeting.
9. I'm sure Snoke will show up, most likely in non-holographic form. Probably shorter.
8. I bet that sand is some kind of mineral that changes color when disturbed. Those looks like weaponized pod-racers charging AT-ATs.
7. Yup, that certainly looks like a

6. New characters will show up in the 2nd trailer.
5. I think it's quite possible that Leia was never meant to survive Last Jedi in the first place, and the whole thing about her having an even larger role in 9 was just a ruse to prevent spoilers. Could go either way though.
4. He's evolving into something worse, breaking free from the shadow of Vader to become something truly bad.
3. Finn will do resistance stuff.
2. Yup, probably has to do with The Grey, balance of the force, the prophecy, etc.
1. Same as 2. The Jedi's strict dogmatic view won't help bring balance. It's time to go grey.

After seven movies you're still asking "Why must the Jedi end?" Here's a hint: "... balance to the force". It's always been about balance. You can't have the Jedi without the Sith. Light can not exist without the Dark. Balance is the law of the universe.

I don't think the number of people using the Light or Dark side has any impact on the Force itself and isn't what they mean by balance. The Light and Dark sides are not the Force, they are just different ways of interpreting and using it. Just like moving slowly or fast doesn't affect Time itself, it's just two different ways of navigating through it. Anyways, that's how I always interpreted the concept of the Force. If you're right and that's where they go with the concept of the Force, I

If you're right and that's where they go with the concept of the Force, I think it's gonna be just as lame as the Midichlorians. The Force shouldn't be about the number of people using it since it would still be there even if there were no sentient beings to wield it. Remember Yoda's words: "You must feel the force around you; here, between you,me, the tree, the rock, everywhere. Even between the land and the ship."
