Little blue bipeds invade New York in the trailer for The Smurfs

03.10.2011

If the trailer is any indication, THE SMURFS movie will be populated by more computer-generated creatures than humans... but at least one of them is Neil Patrick Harris. Sadly, it's unlikely he'll be getting up to the same kind of business he does with Harold and Kumar.

SCOOBY-DOO two-timer Raja Gosnell directs, and in case you've somehow never seen the creation of Belgian cartoonist Peyo in cartoons, comics, figurines, games, toys, or ice shows, here is the synopsis: When the evil wizard Gargamel chases the tiny blue Smurfs out of their village, they tumble from their magical world and into ours -- in fact, smack dab in the middle of Central Park. Just three apples high and stuck in the Big Apple, the Smurfs must find a way to get back to their village before Gargamel tracks them down.

I won't see it in theaters, but maybe I'll buy the boxset on dvd when it is packaged with Garfield, Alvin, and Yogi Bear as part of the "once moderately entertaining cartoons are turned into awful CGI/live action films" collection.

There's always that one Scooby Doo/Alvin and the Chipmunks/Beverly Hills Chihuahua type crappy movie that makes a shitton of money despite being probably the worst movie of every year. This will probably be it.

"Nuthin like a cool breeze through my enchanted forest".

Wow. So we've finally escalated from the expectedly crass CGI butt jokes... to pubic hair humor. Kids today are doomed.

I love that one of the lines featured is, "yeah, but you're milking it, don't milk it." Kinda describes the whole concept of doing a Smurfs film.

new game!

when this come out on DVD, make it a drinking game. Every time they say the word "Smurf" instead of a curse word, take a shot. You wont last 3 scenes

I didn't watch the trailer, but judging from the still shot it looks like that one smurf is checking out Smurfette like he's about to bang her.

I always say that when you adapt something, you have the right to do whatever you want, otherwise it would be quite pointless in terms of art and creativity. But a kid flick made to bring some cash to the studio has very little to do with art or creativity. And this looks like its got very little to do with The Smurfs from my childhood. Damn! I didnt intend to watch it, but now, I might just have to, to see how awful it is.

Who's heard that crazy song?

"Papa Smurf, can I lick your ass?"
"Yeah, lick my ass bitch!"
... As soon as I saw Smurfette that song started playing in my head.

Here's to Smurfin'....

....that this isnt horrible. I've sat through many a crappy kid flick, and many a good one, too. Cant say for sure how this will go, but my lil' one is excited for it, so she and i shall be seeing it. Eh, could be fun.

Sorry... I'm in the minority here lol. It really wasn't as bad as I expected.

I think I just blue myself.

Honestly, this does not look that bad. Better than I thought it would be. Should be great to see Neil Patrick Harris do his thing and Hank Azaria looks the part so there is that positive.

This looks alot funnier, creative, and entertaining than Alvin and the Chipmunks.
